This was the first Dunkelweizen that I have ever had and now I am a huge fan.
I had this at the Sam Adams brewery open house.
I liked the smokieness to it but needed a bit more of it to really describe this brew. This needs to be added to the Brewmaster collection
I rated this against other Sam Adams beers I have had. I would have to say this is my favorite Sam Adams brew. I wish I could find it in 6 or 12 packs. Has a nice cloudy, deep-orange look with a nice foamy head. Aroma is of banana/clove. I just totally enjoyed this beer and highly recommend this brew, especially if you like Hefes. bbrock81 (317) - Le Mars, Iowa, USA - OCT 1, 2010
12 oz. bottle. Pours cloudy brown-gold with a white head. Aroma is nice, typical dunkel. Lots of clove, light on the banana. Still quite sweet and fruity, just not the one-trick banana wonder some weizens become. Flavor is quite fruity, with more of the banana coming out here, but still also just a nice generic fruit sweetness. Palate is very nice, quite thick feeling but not a ton of carbonation, instead relying on the wheat to give it that nice mouthfeel. A very nice dunkel, actually. This has a sweet, toffee-like aroma, almost reminiscent of a delicious desert. The color is a medium/dark amber. Notes of caramel, with a very creamy taste. BigBen2120 (687) - Derry, New Hampshire, USA - AUG 27, 2009
12oz bottle purchased at Shaw’s as part of the new Samuel Adams Harvest mix-pack. Pours a hazy to murky copper brown body with over an inch of khaki-colored head. Smells nutty and banana notes and hints of spice and lemon-zest and pith. Toasty nuttiness hits first in the flavor, with hints of caramel and toffee, and suggestions of banana and spice. Medium bodied with ample carbonation. Pretty darn drinkable. Not at all a bad example of the style - a welcome addition to the Samuel Adams fall line-up!

I like it. It is not to harsh in the banana clove aspect. A lot of carbonation and light body. If you like fresh and zippy. Drink now. If you like it more mellow and balanced. Let it it age. Very tasty and the spices are perfect. Dacrza (1047) - Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA - JAN 9, 2011
Situation: Recovering from a three-hour family photoshoot at the mall...Glassware: Celebrator Doppelbock... Appearance: soft brown body that holds a healthy, thin, off-white head; little observable effervescence... Aroma: fresh malt softened by wheat; pleasantly subtle... Palate: soft, smooth, almost to the point of an oily consistency (in a good way); extremely drinkable... Taste: an almost bubble gum (!) like quality to the clove sensation that dominates; malts provide a pleasant underpinning... Overall: In a merging of styles, this is more weizen than dunkel--still, its finish, is sweet enoughto encourage a second bottle; within the fall sampler, this may be my selection to sixpack and savor... Found this in the harvest pack and I loved it. Reminds me of what I really did find in Bavaria last fall. Well balanced and unfiltered, this beer pours a cloudy brown. Everything about it is hearty. Now the challenge is to find a six pack. jebert (500) - Watertown, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 10, 2010
Pours a light orange/copper color with a huge creamy white/tan head and lots of bubbles. Nose is spices and coriander. Very creamy on the palate. Taste is mild wheat with coriander and other spices complimenting the flavor. Crisp on the finish. A very good wheat beer that pairs well with light cheeses on matzo crackers. agillespie81 (315) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JAN 27, 2011
Aroma - banana, clove, nutmeg, wheat;
Appearance - light brown, fluffy head though fades quickly, laces well;
Taste - slightly sweet malt front, complex back filled with banana and clove, finish is mild with faint fruit notes;
Palate - crisp yet not overdone, decent body;
Overall - wonderfully drinkable brew, one of the best of its style.
