I had this at the tour back in May, I believe this one was around 8.5ABV, was brewed with pine needles, it was pretty good tasting, would try again if ever got the chance. calfaro (21) - Trujillo Alto, PUERTO RICO - SEP 7, 2006
Had it on tap at the Sam Adams tour. Definately an interesting brew with the juniper berries present but not overhelming. If they ever release it, i would buy from time to time to "taste" with friends, but its not an "everyday" beer by any means. Cletus (6355) - Connecticut, USA - JUN 10, 2006
On tap at the brewery. Pours bright red with a thin white head. Smells of juniper berries, some candies and grapes. Tastes of berries and maple syrup. A weird brew that I doubt will see the light of day outside the brewery. wickedpete (634) - Lexington Park, Maryland, USA - JUN 5, 2006
I also had this on tap at the Boston brewery. It is a gorgeous red color and has a wonderful sweet berry aroma. The flavor is sweet with berries and caramel-like. Going down it has a slight twinge like that of gin due to the juniper berries I’m guessing. It has a syrupy consistency in your mouth. I think it was under carbonated and that resulted in the beer resembling cough syrup too much. I am interested in seeing how it turns out in bottles if they release it. It is too interesting for just one tasting. I can’t wait to try it again. Also, the alcohol is higher than 5.5%. The info card at the brewery said 7% and the tour guide said 9%. jlf278 (288) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JUN 1, 2006
From tap on Sam Adams Brewery Tour (worth the trip). Poured nice brassy red with small foamy head. Very similar to some barley wines. Overall good taste and complexity. A nice variety of flavors on the palate, but not well balanced. Great aroma, but too astringent going down.

A very unique beer. Beautiful reddish copper pour, but little head. Aroma had an unusual pine scent to it. Almost no carbonation, with a sweet malty, licorice, tangy taste, with a mildly bitter and warm finish. It had a lot of good aspects, but overall it was just kind of hard to drink. Interesting beer, good to try once, but not something I’d buy. Lubiere (13796) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 4, 2006
Hazy golden beer with a creamy white head. Herbal pink grapefruit aroma. In mouth, creamy lactic with graperfruit notes, medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Tap at the Sunset Grill, Boston, Feb.11, 2006. GonZoBeeR (3061) - ste-catherine, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 1, 2006

UPDATED: MAR 5, 2006 [tap @ Sunset Grill 2/15/06] Pours a nice cloudy, reddish color. Flavors are quite complex- malts, spicy yeast, as well as aromatic juniper berries and a slight grapefruit finish. An excellent offering from Sam Adams- very unique.
