COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This flavorful dark brown ale has a distinct hazelnut aroma and taste. Slightly sweet caramel and toffee malt notes accentuate the pleasant roasted hazelnut character. This medium-bodied brew finishes smooth with an underlying spiciness from the hops.

Dark brown pour with a thick and creamy off-white head. Aroma is nutty with some caramel. Hazelnut flavor. Thick, oily and with a LOT of caramel. No hint of adjuncts, it tastes clean and natural. This is a fantastic brown ale.

10/23/2012 - From notes - Pint pour of hazelnut brownish amber with a two finger off white head. Nose is hazelnut, of course, but also light coffee. Stale water... kinda smooth, no amazing. Flavor is roasted, smooth malt, light coffee notes. More hazelnut, and light sweetness. Light to medium body with mild lacing.

12 oz. bottle from seasonal variety pack. Pours a clear dark brown with small light beige head. Aroma is caramel malt and hazelnut. Flavor is lightly sweet with definite hazelnut notes. Creamy mouthfeel with a smooth sweet finish. Probably one of my favorite brown ales and a good fit for the fall season.

Pours a crystal clear reddish brown color with foamy off-white head. Aroma of cocoa and caramel malt. Taste is sweet and nutty...liquid Nutella. Can taste the hazelnut flavor with notes of cocoa and caramel malt. Balanced with some mild bitterness. This has good flavor but not a beer Id drink everyday.

Bottle pour. Probably my least favorite Sam Adams beer since they usually have good stuff.

First off thank you beer snobs for rating a Sam Adams products with a decent overall status. This is a great nut brown beer that unfortunately only comes in a seasonal mix pack. Good clean palate with nice hazelnut flavors. Great for fall but would be nice year around.

Samuel Adams Hazel Brown is a very clear, deep reddish brown ale topped with a dense, off white foam that has outstanding retention and lacing. Caramel, toffee and hazelnut are in the first sniff. There is some roastiness and maybe some grass. Soft, dry and medium bodied, it leaves the tongue a little chalky. This is bursting with hazelnut. Its not huge or overpowering. The flavors all melt very well. Theres just enough bitterness to avoid seeming sweet at all. This is so smooth and easy. It could be a session ale any time.

12oz bottle. Dark brown color, clear, not much head. Strong hazelnut & spice aroma. Light/medium body, average carbonation. This might be the "nuttiest" beer Ive ever had, but surprisingly, its not overpowering or unpleasant. Leave it to Sam to figure it out. A nice novelty.
