Almost like drinking a piece of candy. The hazel nut, toffee, and caramel really complement each other well. maxwelldeux (4374) - Snohomish, Washington, USA - SEP 1, 2012
Damn... I was really surprised to find this one from Sammy. This is the Nutella of beer. Hazelnut and chocolate notes to this come in both taste and smell. It’s so easy to drink... ahem (11) - Santa Barbara, California, USA - SEP 28, 2013

12 oz bottle from the Fall 2013 sampler case. This is a really mellow and rich brown that deserves high marks for craftsmanship. Let’s hope Sam Adams keeps these types coming.

this beer pours a brown color with a nice thick tan head that leaves lots of lacing. the aroma was hazelnut, nuttiness, coffee, caramel, chocolate. there is so much sweetness in the aroma. the flavor is identical to the aroma. this beer is very good in my opinion and i highly recommend it, yesyouam (1016) - Fairport, New York, USA - OCT 19, 2012
Samuel Adams Hazel Brown is a very clear, deep reddish brown ale topped with a dense, off white foam that has outstanding retention and lacing. Caramel, toffee and hazelnut are in the first sniff. There is some roastiness and maybe some grass. Soft, dry and medium bodied, it leaves the tongue a little chalky. This is bursting with hazelnut. It’s not huge or overpowering. The flavors all melt very well. There’s just enough bitterness to avoid seeming sweet at all. This is so smooth and easy. It could be a session ale any time. Smells incredible. Dark roasted nuts. Sweet taste upfront. Medium body. Finish is toasty nut finish. Sort of spicy and the finish lingers. I was surprised and greatly impressed with this beer Jszetela (9) - - JAN 1, 2014 does not count
Wow, I am a big fan of hazelnut. I love hazelnut coffee, candles, etc. So when i tried this beer I was immediately in love. I’ve had hazelnut beers by other well rated breweries, but this is my favorite. HuskerTornado (31) - Arkansas, USA - JUL 14, 2014
12 oz. bottle poured into sensory glass. Pours a clear, deep reddish brown color with a tan head that stays a while before leaving a fair amount of lacing.
Smell is heavy on hazelnut, sweet malt, toffee, and chocolate.
Taste is of hazelnuts and very well balanced sweet chocolate and toffee with some hop bitterness. In the mouth, smooth, creamy, and medium bodied.
Overall, an excellent brown ale that uses hazelnut as well as any beer I’ve had. Well done.
