Hazelnut, chocolate and toffee aromas. Tastes not overly sweet nice balance. My only complaint is it is a little thin bodied. Very good otherwise. Ericular (1016) - Minnesota, USA - OCT 22, 2013
Pours an excellent deep ruby brown with lasting head and good lacing. Aroma is very good, tons of hazelnuts, caramel, brown sugar, and light holiday spice. Taste is nice as well, with an earthy malt base to the hazelnut flavor. Great beer. onceblind (9399) - Denver, Colorado, USA - DEC 1, 2013
Clear amberish copper with a thin sticky white head. Nose is full of hazelnut tones and biscuity cocoa-ness. Flavor is rich with hazelnut and light milk chocolate tones. Basically tastes like the beer form of a ferot rochert. Lots of hazelnut, a bit of chocolate, on a medium body. Lovely! GG (2332) - NorCal, California, USA - NOV 3, 2014

I really, really enjoyed every aspect of this beer, but the true treasure is in it’s delivery of the hazlenut/sweet malt combo in a great way. It reminded me in a way of SA’s Chocolate Bock, in how it delivered that classic chocolate flavor yet still kept it’s beer roots. This beer delivers what might just be THE best flavor of hazlenuts in a beer this side of Rogue’s Hazlenut Brown. Really hoping this starts getting some exposure in 6-packs and not just being added in on the 12-pack Harvest collection. oddaroma (139) - Texas, USA - AUG 22, 2012
Dark brown with thick tan head that lasts. The hazelnut aroma is very prominent along with toffee, chocolate, and coffee. Heavy bodied brew that drinks very smooth. Malts kick in on the first swallow. Nicely toasted. Hops are only an afterthought on the finish. Great beer for big dinners on cool nights.

Poured from bottle into pint glass. Great brown ale! The hazelnut flavor is roasted in such a way that it almost has a Carmel flavor. Perhaps the best brown ale I have ever had.

12-oz. bottle into a pint glass at my house on Sept. 5, 2012 (purchased at Mission Valley (San Diego, Calif.) Vons on Sept. 2, 2012 as part of a Harvest 12-pack for $12.98). About three fingers of head. Poured a caramel, brown with khaki tan lacing. Good retention on sides (balanced, khaki white foam) and top (nice layer of film).
Smelled sharp note of a hybrid of chocolate, caramel and toffee. Reminded me initially of the Rolo candy bar. Also got some roasty nuts. Maybe even some coffee beans and dark chocolate.
Tasted slightly different than the smell. Got those roasted nuts, but also a sweet taste, like an espresso. Not as dark chocolate/coffeeish as the smell, but still sweet and flavorful.
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth finish. Very smooth.
Really liked this beer. Three words to sum it up would be nutty, espresso and smooth. rustbucket0873 (460) - Greenville, South Carolina, USA - SEP 7, 2012
Pours brown to dark brown, with a fluffy white head. The aroma is hazel, chocolate, coffee, caramel, and fruity. the flavor is sweet, with chocolate flavors up front finished with hazel in the back. With and aftertaste of both. While the body is a medium to lighter body so its not over bearing and has lots of flavor to complement. I really like this one, Sam Adams did a good job on this one. Nice rich brownish red hue; aromas detected include caramel; especially, after warming up a bit. Decent hops detected in finish. Fairly light mouthfeel but really quite pleasant! Nice fall warmer! tnkw01 (1753) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - SEP 15, 2012
Bottle. Very similar to the hazelnut longshot from ’96. Loved that one and love this one. Wish I could buy this in a six pack. Deep brown color. Yes, it had a slight hazelnut aroma but had better hazelnut taste. Love it.
