Hell just may have frozen over. Sam Adams produced a real contender besides their flagship. Soft but unmistakable nutty nose. Balanced flavour. Roasted notes. Good mouth feel. Big flavour up front with excellent progression till finish. This is right up there with Rogue’s hazelnut offering.
(12oz bottle) Pours a clear copper body with a spare, quickly diminishing, beige head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, and nuts. Flavor of chocolate, roasted grain, hazelnuts, caramel, earth, and vanilla. pet3rman (375) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 20, 2015
1 year old from the back of my brother-in-laws fridge - here goes nothing: Pours hazy brown with small cream head. Aroma and flavor distinctly nutty with evident caramel and a hint of dates. Body is medium. Finish is mild. Nice brown ale by Sam Adams. Accomplishes what it set out to do, nicely. alliance100 (1159) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - NOV 5, 2014
Draft - pours a medium transparent brown color . Mild hazelnut aroma . Taste is pretty sweet , artificial hazelnut flavoring .

I really, really enjoyed every aspect of this beer, but the true treasure is in it’s delivery of the hazlenut/sweet malt combo in a great way. It reminded me in a way of SA’s Chocolate Bock, in how it delivered that classic chocolate flavor yet still kept it’s beer roots. This beer delivers what might just be THE best flavor of hazlenuts in a beer this side of Rogue’s Hazlenut Brown. Really hoping this starts getting some exposure in 6-packs and not just being added in on the 12-pack Harvest collection. slowrunner77 (12586) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 24, 2014
I didn’t know buckwheat wasn’t wheat. Oh well. Had a mini Greens tasting. I’d passed for a while cause these are 6.50 for 500 ml of gluten free...weirdness, as it turns out. His "Dubbel" really fell into no style. Looked like a Dubbel but had an odd sweetness above hints of belgian yeast and an even odder sour note that wasn’t enough to be cool - just enough to be off."

Poured from bottle into pint glass
Appearance – Pours a light to medium brown color with a big billowy tan head. The head has very nice retention and slowly fades over time as the big bubbles trapped within the head pop. Once the head recedes it leaves a medium level of lacing.
Smell – The aroma is sweet and has an interesting mix of aromas. It is big of a sweet toffee and caramel with notes of some brown sugar sweetness and a lighter roasted smell. With this, there is an almost apple cider sweet smell. The spices and the sugary smells bring this on. Finally there is a lighter nutty aroma in the nose which, when combined with the rest, gives a very sweet and pleasant aroma.
Taste – The taste starts with a smooth roasted malt and sweet and buttery toffee flavor. A nice roasted hazelnut flavor along with some caramel soon meet the tongue and combined with the toffee and roast. These flavors take the taste to the end where they are joined by some lighter spice flavors as well as some earthy hop flavors. While these enter the taste, the hazelnut flavor gets even stronger and leave a pleasant sweeter roasted nut flavor on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the creamier side with the carbonation level being on the lower side of the spectrum. The creamy body is fantastic to the flavor profile with the carbonation level, being on the lower side, allowing all the roasted and nutty flavors to really be sensed by the tongue.
Overall - Very easy drinking and quite tasty. A pleasant drinking brown ale.

12 oz. bottle poured into sensory glass. Pours a clear, deep reddish brown color with a tan head that stays a while before leaving a fair amount of lacing.
Smell is heavy on hazelnut, sweet malt, toffee, and chocolate.
Taste is of hazelnuts and very well balanced sweet chocolate and toffee with some hop bitterness. In the mouth, smooth, creamy, and medium bodied.
Overall, an excellent brown ale that uses hazelnut as well as any beer I’ve had. Well done. jefcon (1921) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - APR 5, 2014
Surprisingly rich, despite a kind of malaise in the glass. Nutty, amber, dry and reflective of a nice malt, toast experience. dwyerpg (6368) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - MAR 27, 2014
Quite surprised by how tasty this was. Not nutty at all, the sweetness is faint. More than anything else this is creamy. A good beer. Nekronos (4174) - Xalapa, MEXICO - MAR 25, 2014
Quite nice too. Very smooth but interesting in shape. NIce aroma and enjoyable at the TV also.
