UPDATED: DEC 28, 2006 Holiday 12-pack: Color is brown, almost black with ruby highlights. Small tan head. Aroma is light and sweet with a hint of cocoa. Light sweet coffee/cocoa start with a lightly bitter dry finish. Light on the pallate, but a fairly decent porter. elnadeau (786) - Laguna Niguel, California, USA - FEB 19, 2005
This beer was a pleasant suprise, with a satisfying mouthfeel, nice balanced array of flavors; chocolate dominating with hints of coffee, roasted caramel and perhaps some fruit. Keep an open mind, I found this to be an enjoyable experience. mike mcneil (660) - St Augustine, Florida, USA - FEB 14, 2005
Pours almost opaque black with some burgundy highlights. Tight, durable creamy tan head. Nice, upfront aromas of dark roasted malts, espresso and bittersweet chocolate. Smooth, silky mouthfeel. Attractive flavors of dark chocolate dominate. Mid palate reveals some faint sweetness with a roasted malt and hop finish. A admirable winter season porter from SA. goldtwins (4320) - Nesconset, New York, USA - FEB 10, 2005
Poured a dark brown with a thin tan head. Roasty flavors and aroma with hints of chocolate and coffee. Light bitter finish. Dough77 (821) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - FEB 9, 2005
Very impressive outing from SA, quite a surprise this was. Nice chocolate, roasted malt touch to it, with a light hop finish. Very pleasent, not the best, but SA definitly gets an A for effort.

Dark beer with deep red hints when held up to the light. Small creamy tan head when poured out of the bottle. Nose of lightly burnt sugar and roast grains. Sweet flavor with some burnt toast notes. Coffee flavors come out as it warms, with a green, bitter hop finish. Its an okay beer, but not the best porter. Sancho (245) - Da Bronx, New York, USA - JAN 31, 2005

This porter had an aroma that initially reminded me of bubble gum. The taste was similar to a sweet chocolate stout. The beer is a dense viscous blend of porter and old Fezziwig. I enjoyed the deep thickness of the beer, but I would have liked to have seen a beer with a little more complexity. The presence of the hop flavor would have given this beer a little more character. Pour is crisp black with a huge brown head...smell is mostly chocolate and coffee...taste is much the same with the chocolate taking a background to the coffee...some unknown spice in there too...little thin and watery... ElJefe (553) - Rochester, New York, USA - JAN 27, 2005
Very dark brown, tan head. Aroma is sweet - prunes and molasses. This one is pretty sweet, but the sweetness is balanced with a smooth bitterness in the finish. Strong coffee flavor. Could use a bit more body. I wish they would offer this outside the Holiday pack ( Old Fezziwig too, for that matter)...
