COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A full-bodied English-style Porter, this brew has a substantial roasted malt character. Brewed with traditional English Ale hops and sweetened with Scottish heather honey. The honey balances the spiciness from the hops and the roasted malt character. The beer is finished by dry hopping with English Goldings.

seemed a little sour to me, although i only had one bottle which may have been bad

To my surprise this was a well made beer with a taste that was even better.

Not as strong as I wouold prefer, and I didn’t catch the honey in the mix. Slightly thin, stale aroma and weak texturally. Not horrid, but give Anchor Porter a shot instead... you won’t be disappointed.

Nice Porter pretty head over a dark brown beer with reddish highlites. Good full bodided mouthfeel. Some roastyness apparent finishes sweet. Another of my Samuel Adams Favorites. Good work Boston BC.

UPDATED: MAY 12, 2003 Below average porter in my mind, not a whole lot of honey notes or flavors at all in the beer, thin & almost bland as well, very disappointing

A good porter, tho not as big and heavy as Im used to. A decent introduction to porters if you’ve never tried one tho. SA seems to be phasing out their better beers tho, unfortunately.

Delightfully light for a porter. Very drinkable. Not a heavyweight by any means but not a pushover either.

nrime99 (13) - USA - JUL 30, 2001
Very mediocre. No body to speak of and a weird, amateur brew aftertaste. Better than alot of mass produced porters, but if GOOD beer is available, this just doesn’t stack up.

4.2
Got Stout? (173) - Wisconsin, USA - MAR 23, 2001
A good porter that has the sweet quality of Ale from the Olde Country or mead. Nice thick quality, good for sore throats. Stay out of your old man’s cough medicine, ’cause this ’ill do it for ’ya

3.5
Shazbat (100) - USA - FEB 6, 2001
Smooth and sweet, slightly offensive aftertaste.
