Whoa…. now this was one nice hearty brew!! Pours a deep dark mahogany with a sporty head that stays with the brew for a long time. Sweet scents and flavors of malts, caramel, toffee, espresso and hints of clove or some sweet fruit (almost candy-like). Definitely one of my favorite brews to enjoy during the chill of fall and winter. This is a thick (but not chewy!) brew and one that is easily drinkable so you can enjoy a few each time. Pours a gorgeous dark cola brown with an ever so slight reddish hue. Nose is fruity, hoppy, and very alcoholic. You can really smell the ethanol in this. The head is a creamy beige. It doesn’t last the duration, but it almost does. The head contributes to the nose as the aroma changes as the head dies down. This is a significant characteristic of the malt and yeast strains used in this. Thick & malty on the palate. The heavy alcohol content creates a warming sensation after the swallow. But you know what? (and I never thought I’d say this) this has too much alcohol in it. It should be toned down to 7 or 8 percent. The amount it has in it leaves to much of an ethanol aftertaste and a bit of burn. A lesser amount would still give the warming effect without the overpower alcohol taste. Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a small mug.
Appearance: This beer pours a beautiful deep amber brown color with a small cap of creamy foam. Inside this big beer there is some slow moving carbonation making its way through the thick body. Its light tan head holds on well and makes a little lacing on the glass.
Smell: The aroma has some nice sweet malty notes of sweet dark bread, roasted barley, caramel, and brown sugar. There is a boozy note as well and hops can be found way off in the background.
Taste/Palate: Like the aroma its flavor sweet and malty but not overly so or to the point of being cloying. The abv comes through and adds some mellow warmth to its overall character. Hop bitterness is low and just light leafy hop spice is noted in the finish. The palate is thick and heavy with just enough carbonation to give it some life.
Notes: Over all its big and bold which hits home for me when were talking about Doppelbocks.

Pours clear mahogany with a large beige cream head. Smells super malty, like caramel, with a distinct hint of fruit. Taste big sweet, hints of toffee and fruit, with almost no bitterness. Has a very rich, strongly malty, somewhat yeasty and subtly fruity and smoky aroma - very inviting. Pours a dark clear mahogany with a thick, fluffy, light buff head that likes to stick around. Strong, spicy flavor attacks the tongue with some hoppy bitterness and a firm alcohol bite. It has a smooth, malty, slightly fruity undertone that cools on its way down the pipes. Poured into .75L Stein (checked color in shot glass). Dark red brown, Tan head and sticky creamy lacing. smell dark chocolate, molasses, fruitcake, booze...tastes the same, big alcohol burn. this is a belly-warmer ( 750ml ...hick-up). very similar to Ettaler Curator
