Bottle. It pours jet black with a medium beige head. It’s ashy and roasted with pouch tobacco and chocolate notes. Some soy in the flavor. Classic Impy stout. jonasdm (35) - - AUG 27, 2016
Bottle. A thin brown head with aroma of dark chocolate, berries and nougat. Taste is chocolate, coffee and roasted finish. Fine beer but not remarkable. hallinghansen (3471) - Odense SV, DENMARK - AUG 13, 2016
Bottle @ home. Black body with a medium brown head. Roasted malt, chocolate, charcoal, caramel, anise, liquorice. It has a sweetness that I’m not a fan of. TorbenJensen (1587) - Valby, DENMARK - AUG 11, 2016
Already by pouring I’m pretty sure I’ve done a really good buy. It is pitch black, thick and oily, and it leaves a nice creamy nougat colored foam as slowly sinking but retains approximately 2-3 mm great foam on the surface. Exciting delicate aroma of hard roasted malt, licorice and dark chocolate. The taste is licorice, a little coffee, lots of hard roasted malt aftertaste of dark caramel. Furthermore, it offers a slight spicy flavor of anise and a slight taste of burnt coal with weak smoke. It is a very complex stout which has everything a solid and strong stout should have. I had really the feeling from the start, partly because Samuel Adams series is usually very fine beers and partly because the strength is 9.2%. The alcohol is not disturbing the flavors, but I senses heat and a slight tingling in the mouth because of the strength. The carbonation is soft and comfortable, and the aftertaste long and tasty.

Copenhagen 7/8 2016. 33 cl bottle from Fakta. Old ship in hard sea on the label. Looks like it is firing a Cannon as well. Might be symbolic of the high ABV. Pours opaque black with beige creamy head. Thick lacing. Settles as 0,5 cm thick layer of foam. Intense aroma of licorice, dark roasted malts, bitter chocolate, pitch and warm asphalt. Soft carbonation and thick sticky and oily (must be bunker fuel) palate. Flavor is nicely balanced between heavy sweetness and Pronounced salty bitterness. Aftertaste is lingering and mostly sweet. ABV is present but not overly so. A thick and fat stout which requires some time to digest. NosirIwont (2645) - Husum, DENMARK - AUG 5, 2016
UPDATED: AUG 6, 2016 Bottle. 9.2%. No ‘best before’ date, but fairly new. As ’Samuel Adams Imperial Stout’. Pours almost black, with a dark tan head. Good lacing. Heavy aroma; roasted with dark fruits, slightly tart. Light dusty overtone, which takes on a wooden note as it warms. Light chocolate note as it warms. Flavour is roasted with dark fruits as well, with a light liquorice/anise note. Roasted, mildly bitter finish with an alcohol burn, a bit tart. Lingering liquorice/anise note with fledgling hints of chocolate, followed by a hint of green apple. Soft palate. Overall good, but a wee bit cloying in the long run. 05.08.16. Flaske. Kulsort let olieret øl. Lidt Soya i både smag og duft. Den er ellers god let brændt fin humling, men den passer bare ikke med soyaen. MiP (16054) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - JUL 25, 2016
Bottle, 9.2%. Fruity and roasted aroma. Black colour. Small stable brown head. The flavour is roasted and jammy. Creamy with a touch of smoke and salt. Very late mild coffee aftertaste. Creamy to watery mouthfeel. Uncomplicated but good. Rasmus40 (22130) - Beder, Aarhus, DENMARK - JUL 23, 2016
