COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our take on the stout brewed by 18th century English brewers for the Russian Imperial Court of Catherine II. The special malted barley in this intense and massive brew delivers rich flavors like dark chocolate, coffee and anise.

Bottle from systembolaget. Pours a dark colour beer with a small brownish head. Roasted malts, chocolate and coffee and a beautiful mix. Dry creamy chocolate finish.

olsvammel (7225) - Örebro, SWEDEN - MAR 18, 2016
Bottle from Systembolaget. Smell of chocolate, caramel, dark malts and dried fruits. Similar taste with dark bitter chocolate, burned toast and dark malts. Roasted to the point where it feels sour. Slightly boozy but not too bad. A bit rough around the edges and probably needs a year or two to settle down.

3.6
kustie (1186) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAR 13, 2016
Bottle from systembolaget Nyköping. Opaque black color with tanned small head. Aroma has roasted malt, ripe fruits, syrup. Taste is malty with quite long a bit sweet aftertaste. Flavors of roasted malt, salted licorice, coffee and ripe fruits.

SamTheBarrel (804) - Vallentuna, SWEDEN - MAR 12, 2016
355ml brown bottle poured into a Tulip glass. Appearance is brownish black with a large foamy brown head with good retention. Aroma and flavours of coffee, vanilla, dark chocolate, syrup loaf, muscovado, raisins and spices. Taste is heavy sweet and medium bitter. Palate is full bodied, creamy texture and average carbonation. Overall a good Imperial Stout, just a little too sweet.

ej (1330) - Hauglandshella, NORWAY - MAR 11, 2016
Bottle. Pours a black body with a medium dark tanned head. Sweet aroma with moderate roast, chocolate, caramel and a whiff of alcohol. Taste is fairly sweet but balanced. Chocolate, roasted grains, a hint of spice and a light bitter finish. A good imp stout. Full to medium-full body with soft to avg co2 levels.

Garlic_of_Doom (645) - SWEDEN - MAR 8, 2016
Bottle. Almost black with a huge, creamy, frothy espresso coloured head. Retention is pretty good. Aroma is not that powerful, dark chocolate, vinous notes, roasted malt. Taste has dark chocolate, cocoa powder, quite a lot of roasted malt, licorice, slight vinous notes. Medium verging on full body, soft carbonation, round, smooth mouth feel. Long lingering dark chocolate aftertaste.

Solid, no fuzz, Imperial Stout. Could benefit from a slightly bigger body but for the price, who am I to complain?

3.8
Turtles (2653) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAR 5, 2016
355ml bottle from Systembolaget. Pitch black with a creamy two-finger size mocha head, good lacing. Roasted barley aroma, coffee, smoke and cherries. Full bodied, smooth mouthfeel, medium carbonated. Roasted taste, cocoa, chocolate, coffee and licorice with sweet notes, molasses, plums, cherries and mildly smoky notes in the finish.

Pedro_Pinho (242) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAR 4, 2016
Black thick liquid with tan brown head. Aroma of roasted malt and alcohol. Taste dark malts, warm alcohol and some coffee with hints of chocolate. Good overall.

Homer321 (5071) - Melboring, Florida, USA - DEC 23, 2015
Bottle from the rotter. Nose is full of molasses, tar, sticky chocolate, fudge. Everything I want in an Impy stout aroma. Pitch black with minimal brown colored head. Taste is lightly tart, acidic, sweet, almost rum and raisin, just sticky and sweet. Not much bitterness but isn’t cloying either. A touch of warming. Pretty solid.
