One of my favorites, and the cheapest Imperial Stout that you are bound to find. Great taste of licorice dominates, and this one is for sipping like fine brandy. EtTuCthulhu (1391) - Columbia, Missouri, USA - FEB 5, 2013
This beer is black with a minimal tan head when poured into a snifter, and the aroma is heavily chocolate with roasted and caramel malts. This beer is mildly bitter, mildly sweet, and strongly umami. Also, the combination of the full body, thick texture, flat carbonation, and slightly bitter finish make for a nearly perfect beer. Fulmonte21 (42) - USA - JUN 10, 2009
This is a true stout with no extras. Has a dry simple flavor. You can still smell the alcohol, but not as much as the Bock. This one has a high alcohol content as well and I wouldn’t recommend drinking too many in one sitting. OD40oz (774) - Box Elder, South Dakota, USA - MAR 26, 2009
Nice pour, dark as used motor oil. Nice and thick with a small dark tan head. Chocolatey aroma with noticeable alcohol. Creamy smooth taste with a nice roasted coffee finish. Top shelf. chucklemation (1685) - Royal Oak, Michigan, USA - JUL 22, 2013
Excellent beer. Has a deep chocolate aroma and a semi-sweet chocolate flavor. It finishes with a very slight taste of licorice and feels very smooth and creamy on the tongue.

12oz bottle from The Liquor Shop in Tyngsborro, Mass. Pours an opaque black body with a good inch of tan head. Chocolate and caramel dominate the aroma, with some coffee and hints of citrussy hops. Caramel, coffee, and chocolate dominate the flavor, sweet and tasty. Rich full body with moderate to high carbonation. Super tasty, full, no flaws to speak of. Delicious. I hope this becomes more widely available. poisoneddwarf (2511) - Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, USA - MAR 8, 2010
12 oz bottle into English pint. Complex aromas of black licorice, molasses, cinnamon rolls. Pours opaque black (for the most part--faint reddish tints can be seen in the bottom corners of the glass) with a medium head with great retention and sticky lacing. Gourmet coffee comes out in the flavor. Sweet, bitter, finishes sour. Medium carbonation. Fantastic.

aroma: dark chocolate, roast/charred malts, alcohol, hint of silage.
taste: coffee soda, bitter chocolate, roasted malt, hint of smoke.
simple and straight-forward for style, very drinkable, not astringent or bitter, and a nice clean finish.
Smells of alcohol and rich dark malt. Hints of sherry and cognac aromas. Deep brown color with dense creamy brown head that lasts and lasts. Delicious malt flavor. Some smoky flavors from the roast malt. Hints of coffee and vanilla in the aftertaste. Full bodied and smooth, the mouthfeel is perfect. Damn this is good! Exceedingly drinkable, amazingly tasty, and definitely fit for a Czar! TGL0782 (15) - Illinois, USA - JAN 7, 2011
