Pours a very dark color for a wit, even an imperial one, dark glowing hazy orange/amber with a nice small dense creamy white froth. Strange aroma, apples, caramel, rubber, yeast, light coriander. Yea thats an odd beer... flavor is super sweet syrupy caramel and alcohol, some rubber, green banana, fruity, unmalted barley. Super boozy candied orange finish. The body is actually kind of nice, if it weren’t so damned syrupy, besides that its medium/full with a smooth even carbonation. Has a condensed boozy macro taste... seriously I wouldn’t be surprised if this were iced to get it to 10%, flavor and body really point towards that. Iced-wheatwine. Bottle thanks to Robert @ Stateline. Aroma is bananas and more bananas. Poured a gold color with white head. Taste is strong bananas with spice and covered up the 10.3% alcohol very well. Easy to drink and not bad. tgncc (3135) - Bellmore, New York, USA - FEB 23, 2009
Aroma is dark ripe fruit, alcohol. BIG departure from the regular White ale i just rated. The appearance is a reddish gold, lots of carbonation, white head (also a big departure.) The flavor is very fruity, like overripe bananas, alcohol, again very little resemblance to the original white beer. The finish is mainly an alcohol burn. Nice thick, silky mouthfeel though. Enjoyable enough, but like all SA Imp Series beers, the alcohol is not well hidden. lithy (2996) - Capital of Appalachia, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 23, 2009
Bottle thanks to Butters. Pours a dark hazy orange with a thin white head. Aroms is lots of citrus, some coriander and alcohol. Taste is bordering on a syrupy version of a wit. Citrus, wheat, and coriander zest. Some alcohol in the finish. TURDFERGUSON (4058) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - FEB 22, 2009
Bottle. Pours hazy amber with a small sudsy head. Nose is sweet, alcohol, mild spice, citrus. Flavor is overly sweet, vanilla, more alcohol, and citrus. Thin mouthfeel with a fusel alcohol finish. Not good.

(bottle - 12 oz) Nice orange color with a fizzy and thick white head. Aroma is nice and balanced. Good amounts of cloves, spice, malt, and banana make their way through. Taste is incredibly spicy and sweet. Lots of pepper and clove mix with a good amount of wheat and banana flavor near the middle. Alcohol is very present but finishes clean, tart, and warming. Sweetness lingers a bit but gives way to the dry wheat flavor. Pretty nice. Surprising that this is the highest ABV of the Imperial Series. daknole (11049) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - FEB 21, 2009
UPDATED: MAR 28, 2009 What the hell is with this beer? A sweet mess. Pours an apricot/light brown color wtih a white head. Aroma is full of banana, spices, malt, honey, sugar and oranges. The flavor is pretty insane on the sweetness. I was not impressed. Lots of sugar, honey, syrup, dried fruit. I need to try this again in a regular beer setting instead of a crazy beer fest. Interesting but way too sweet. epf33 (227) - Fairfax, Virginia, USA - FEB 21, 2009

UPDATED: MAY 30, 2011 Deep orange pour with a light white head. Clovey, spicey, lightly fruity aroma. Thick, coriander, dark sugar, orange peel flavor. Big, thick mouthfeel with a bit of alcohol at the finish. Pretty tasty.Pretty impressed by sam adams with this one. CelticBrew (912) - The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA - FEB 20, 2009
Poured a hazy, medium coppery hue, formed small foamy head. Aroma of banana, cloves and malts. Flavour was rather smooth, wheats, malts, brown candy sugars and corriander, with a tad bit of spicy alcohol. Mouthfeel is both sticky and thick as vanilla finishes up on the palate. Impressive beer from now commercial brewery.
