UPDATED: DEC 24, 2004 A nice amber beer with a small beige head. It has a fruity ale type aroma combined with notes of grass and hops. And a typical ale fruity flavor with a fine bitterness. It’s not as bitter as other american IPA’s - I like IPA’s more bitter than this. omhper (25740) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - MAR 3, 2002
Amber. Sweet, hop dominated, rather malty, bitter. A little one-dimensional perhaps.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Deep golden, orangey beer with a dense head. A pleasure to the eye. Well hopped as all traditional IPA’s with Fuggles and East Kent Goldings - classic English types. Bitterness is overwhelming to the point where this seems hard to drink. But the hops also adds beautiful aromas. fiulijn (21214) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 1, 2003
Hazy amber color, poor head. Strange aroma, of bread. Some malt, sharp bitter character. Not impressive. jtclockwork (17264) - , New Jersey, USA - MAY 12, 2010
Clear amber pour in the glass. Nose and taste of slight floral spruce, some citrus. Rated 6/8/02

while i agree it would be a very nice pale, it’s a different style. as an IPA, it’s so so, a little underwhelming. Nice floral, citrusy hoppy notes and flavor, just not quite enough of them." jcwattsrugger (12524) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - MAY 18, 2009
CBC @Sam Adams-on tap-pours a rich light tan head and yellow/gold color. Aroma is herbal/pine hops, light/medium malt. Taste is herbal/pine hops, light/medium malt with some caramel. madsberg (11776) - Søborg, DENMARK - JUL 26, 2002
UPDATED: APR 13, 2003 Bottled: This is my 2 IPA, and I kind of like them. The colour of the beer is like the sun on a summer evening half an hour before it sets. Light orange. The aroma is slightly hoppy but a little weak. The same goes for the flavour. A little hoppy, but too weak. I would have preffered if the aftertaste had lasted a little long. All in all a good beer, that i definately will give another try. daknole (11402) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - AUG 1, 2009
Me. Nothing amazing. Citrus hops comibine with some caramel malt and lead to the same flavor. Boring. But if this can educate the masses about a hoppier beer then cheers to SA. hopscotch (11236) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - AUG 14, 2002
This beer rocks. The commercial description is accurate. However, I would like to add that this beer is pretty complex. Very interesting. Very well hopped with a very enjoyable and interesting undertone that I could not identify. Maybe one of the special malts. Jim does it again. A very very good IPA.
