Bottle at home in CT - picked up at Stateline. Pours clear, deep orange-gold with a frothy, off-white head. Pretty basic aroma with lightly toasted malts, slight biscuits, pine, ripe citrus. Medium sweet flavor with some berry sweetness, light honey, some grain husk, bready and lightly toasted malts, a bit of grass, orange rind. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Pretty well balanced on the finish with lightly sugary. Bready malts, more ripening citrus fruits, bitter pine and grass. Somewhat basic, and not the best expression of Simcoe hops. But it’s drinkable beer, jtclockwork (17654) - , New Jersey, USA - JUN 8, 2011
Bottle shared by jcwattsrugger. Pours reddish amber. White head. Nose/taste of grassy hops, tropical fruits, caramel malt and pineapple. Lightish body. Dryish pine finish. brokensail (16689) - Dublin, California, USA - MAY 11, 2011
A: The beer pours a dark amber color, almost copper with a finger of slightly off-white head.
S: Fairly dank hop aroma, which you typically expect from Simcoe. However underneath the citrusy and piney hops, there is still that pervasive sweetness to it.
T: Citrus and citrus zest. A moderate bitterness to it and some grassy and piney bitterness. Some sweet fruitiness and some of the same sweet maltiness to it but not quite as pronounced.
M: Medium in body with medium carbonation.
O: The bitterness and intense hop flavor helped to balance out the intense sweetness.
