COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams Latitude 48 IPA is a unique IPA brewed with a select blend of hops from top German, English, and American growing regions all located close to the 48th latitude within the hop belt of the Northern Hemisphere. The combination of hops in this beer creates a distinctive but not overpowering hop character. The beer is dry hopped with Ahtanum, Simcoe*, and East Kent Goldings hops for a powerful citrus and earthy aroma. The hop character is balanced by a slight sweetness and full body from the malt blend.

Reviewed 2/18/13. 12 oz bottle into a nonic pint glass. A: Pours a dark copper color with good clarity. The head is a nice-looking two finger offwhite shade. While it fades rather quickly, it does leave nice splotches of lacing down the side of the glass. S: Fairly typical for a middle-of-the-road IPA. Caramel malts counteract the earthy hops. This one seems to be pretty pine forward - normally not my cup of tea - in its aroma. Im a bit disappointed that the German hops used arent more prevalent here. T: Put simply, its mellow and inoffensive to a fault. Slight caramel malts to start give way to a slightly piny/earthy finish with a slight grassy linger. Theres absolutely nothing wrong with this one, just thats its devoid of bold flavor or interesting characteristics. M: The somewhat thick, creamy body and weak carbonation overwhelms the lack of strong taste provided on the palate. Nonetheless, its quite easy to drink on the grounds of there just isnt much to it. O: This is an IPA with training wheels. It wont offend any senses...but neither will it impress them. Hard to return to this one when there are so many excellent IPAs on the shelves.

Flasche von Globus. Wunderbarer Beerenduft. Trb Braunes Bier mit viel Schwebstoffen. Fester Schaum. Im Antrunk starke Malz- und Brotnote. Mittlere Bitterkeit. Im Geschmack finden sich die roten Beeren leider kaum.

Bottle at Crossfire. Nice amber colour white head. Hoppy nose, grapes taste. The bitter finish was a nice companion to the "diablo" burger I was enjoying.

Clear copper color with a full, ecru colored head. Nice lace. Green hops aromas dominate. Hints of fresh herbs and lightly caramelized malts in the background. Flavors are quite dry. Dry white toast comes to mind. Mild bitterness with a some grapefruit zest and pith. Not much depth to this one. Rather linear. Last bottle of the six pack and it seems that Ive been less excited about trying each successive one. 7/10

Color is clear amber with ok off-white head. aroma of caramel, hops and fruit. Taste is sweetish at first turning into a bitter finish. A little bit of alcohol in finish, but its not too much. Decent IPA.
