COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Samuel Adams Latitude 48 IPA is a unique IPA brewed with a select blend of hops from top German, English, and American growing regions all located close to the 48th latitude within the hop belt of the Northern Hemisphere. The combination of hops in this beer creates a distinctive but not overpowering hop character. The beer is dry hopped with Ahtanum, Simcoe*, and East Kent Goldings hops for a powerful citrus and earthy aroma. The hop character is balanced by a slight sweetness and full body from the malt blend.

Well, I hate to be hard on ole Sam, because at least Sam brings decent beers to the masses, but the description of this beer says it all: ..a distinctive but not overpowering hop character." As in "hops for the masses." Not that theres anything wrong with that, I guess. If this beer can be a gateway drug to a true IPA, then all is for the best. I would take this beer over a regular Sam Adams LAger at an Airport bar, so this is a step in the right direction. But on my list of favorite IPAs this is pretty low on the list.

Bottle at Crossfire. Nice amber colour white head. Hoppy nose, grapes taste. The bitter finish was a nice companion to the "diablo" burger I was enjoying.

Clear copper color with a full, ecru colored head. Nice lace. Green hops aromas dominate. Hints of fresh herbs and lightly caramelized malts in the background. Flavors are quite dry. Dry white toast comes to mind. Mild bitterness with a some grapefruit zest and pith. Not much depth to this one. Rather linear. Last bottle of the six pack and it seems that Ive been less excited about trying each successive one. 7/10

UPDATED: JUL 15, 2016 Flaske. Rav farvet med en flot hvid skum krone og en krydret-humlet duft. Aroma: Frugt og humle. Smag: Masser af humle, citrus-frugter og bitterhed i eftersmagen. En vel afbalanceret IPA.

Aus der Flasche getrunken. Dunkles Bernstein mit weiem Schaum im Glas. Riecht fruchtig suerlich (Lagerungsfehler?). Fruchtig-tannig im Antrunk. Hinten raus leichte Bittre.

Color is clear amber with ok off-white head. aroma of caramel, hops and fruit. Taste is sweetish at first turning into a bitter finish. A little bit of alcohol in finish, but its not too much. Decent IPA.

Amber medium-bodied ale, with an aroma revealing mostly caramel malt, but also some hops. The flavour is mostly spicy hops, but also distinctive malt. Light sweetness with medium bitterness. Ends on a spicy note. Overall, this is a simple and drinkable beer, but I like the hops they have chosen, and the balance is good.
