Amber pour with light tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, a little sweetness. Taste is a nice solid malt backbone. It is a little sweet. A good dunkel. Nice lacing. bth122 (1547) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 7, 2012
Bottle, poured a dark copper brown with medium head. Aroma of caramel, bread, nuts, hazelnut. Light sweetness taste. Medium body. Nice creamy texture. Softer carbonation. This is a smooth, good tasting dunkel. scottw86 (1175) - Maryland, USA - MAY 13, 2012
Poured a deep copper-red color with a medium-sized creamy off-white head. Aroma has lots of dough with caramel and a touch of dark fruit. Some interesting grain notes in the aroma as well. Taste also has lots of dough with bread and caramel. The body is slightly creamy with lots of flavor. The finish has more caramel and grains with some slightly herbal hops. Overall very nice. high_on_hops (809) - Burlingame, California, USA - MAY 21, 2012
Pours a deep brown with a tan head and lacing. The aroma is malty, with lots of caramel and a small amount of coffee. The flavor is malty too, but not overly so. It has a great semisweet aftertaste where the coffee shows up.

Clear mahogany with a taupe head that covers for a nice, long time until leaving a collar. Some garnet highlights on the edges of the beer. Beautiful. Aroma of sugary sweet wet grains, almost some sherry like notes as well. Taste of cereal and roast. Some bitterness at the very end. Very long finish of dough covering the mouth long after swallowing. Tasty!

12 ounce bottle poured a brown cola color with aromas of dought, roasted malt, caramel, and some light spice. Flavors are the same, clean aftertaste, nice dunkel, not extremly heavy on the palate. A nice surprise for sure. seymour (2001) - Maplewood, Missouri, USA - JUL 26, 2012
12oz bottle from the 2012 mixpack. It poured a clear reddish brown color with great persistent off-white head and Belgian lace. Aromas of husky grains, rising dough, freshly baked brown bread, dark toast, slightly fruity hops and yeast notes. Flavors of a tangy, tart, true-to-style Munich Dunkel albeit a bit roastier. Light-medium body and average carbonation. Well-rounded bready mouthfeel, slight appropriate mineral hardness. Not particularly complex but a very nice drinkable dark lager. I was in the mood for a table-strength beer with some personality after dinner, and this really hit the spot. jgb9348 (6199) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - AUG 19, 2012
Nice rich brown coloured body with a nice two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of deep toasted malt, a bit of coffee, some strong caramelised sugars, a bit of pit fruits and a good nuttiness. Medium-bodied; Strong malty flavour with some burnt flavours, a bit of light earthiness, some metal and a hint of light coffee - but mainly the malt and the toffee comes through. Aftertaste is nice and relatively light - no sharpness and no bitterness, just a pleasant malt kick with good sugars. Overall, a very nice dunkel with some good complexity and a good bell curve of a flavour profile. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle from the LongShot six pack purchased at Total Wine in McLean, Virginia on 01-August-2012 for US$8.99/6pack sampled at home in Washington on 19-August-2012. lamas (1636) - Washington DC, USA - AUG 27, 2012
Bottle. Enjoy before: 08/12. A deep copper pour with a thick khaki head. The subdued aroma features some caramel, pears, apples, grains, and the slightest hint of citrus in the background. Goes down thin to medium-bodied and kinda crisp. Refreshing and sessionable. A perfect palate. Some caramel along with a touch of toasted graininess upfront taste-wise. A bready/doughy middle. The finish is just a bit dry with some grassy hoppiness and a hint of smoke. A little spiciness throughout. Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 24, 2012
Bottled. Poured medium reddish-brown with a short beige head. The aroma picked up sweeter chocolate, caramel, and nutty malts with faint accents of dark fruit and peppery rye. The flavor found more of the dark fruit and nutty notes at the core, with prickly carbonation and rye around.. finished with nice balance between the sweet malts and the roasty spicage. Light-medium bodied and well-balanced on the palate.. this was one of the best examples of the style that I’ve come across.
