With the hot summer months and fun gatherings in mind, James brewed a refreshing wheat beer with an exotic kick. This beer is smooth and light bodied with the delicate flavors of hibiscus.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a somewhat clear golden color. The head is a fluffy two finger white shade. I love the lacing it leaves behind, definitely. S: There’s a lot of wheat on the nose, to the point where it overpowers any other notes (such as the advertised hibiscus). I’m not a fan of the aroma. T: The flavor profile works better. A light fruitiness gives way to wheat-laden finish, spiked with some cream. I couldn’t tell you what hibiscus tastes like, but there’s a distinct floral quality on the back end. It’s pretty decent all told. M: Extremely creamy and soft, typical of the style. However, the general texture and finish is too heavy; even with the aid of strong carbonation, it gets in the way of drinkability. O: This is now the 4,365th different wheat ale I’ve had from Sam Adams - and just like the others, this one is pretty middling. Pleasant, though.

Straw color with just a hint of pink. Head is tall, meringue like, with hints of beige and pink. Scents of wheat, dough and light flowers. Sweet start, with some wheat and leading to floral and watermelon flavors. Misses the mark for both a wheat and a fruit/herbal brew. 4/13

12oz bottle. Poured a golden color with an averaged sized head. Floral, wheat and maybe a trace of citrus and herbalness.

A hazed golden ale with a thin white head. In aroma, light grassy malt with light hibiscus acidity, light musty character, OK. In mouth, a sweet fruity malt with light grassy hops, light orange notes, light mineral notes, light acidity, OK if a bit tired.

Yellow with a pretty thin head. Sl floral / perfume nose. Pretty sweet on the palate like a macro lager. Could really have used as bit more bitterness.

12 oz bottle: Aroma has got a nice wheat nose, bread, slightly grainy. I don’t know what Hibiscus flower smell like, but it does have a slight floral aroma. Appearance is a cloudy orange pour with a medium white head that diminishes quickly Taste is grainy wheat, and actually quite interesting. I don’t really know how to explain it. Just that it’s quite good. Palate is medium to low carbonation in the mouth and a lingering wheat aftertaste. Overall, Quite nice. Cheers!

"Hmmm. interesting and refreshing. Light fruityness, slightly herbal, a touch of sweet and juuust a splash of tartness. For a lawnmower type beer, pretty nice. I’d try again."

It poured a lightly hazy golden color with a white head. The aroma was of hibiscus and floral notes with a touch of wheat malt. The taste was similar and a little dry. It had a light body with crisp carbonation. Nice.

12oz bottle to SN IPA glass A -Pours a hazy amber/orange with a finger of white foam. Good retention with speckled lacing. S - Sweet wheat malt, grainy and bready, honey sweetness, floral and grassy hops. T - Starts off with grainy backed wheat, grassy hops, lemons, some chalkiness in the middle, doughy bread, light bitterness. Finishes clean with hints of lactic lemon tartness. M - Soft and creamy carbonation, medium feel, clean finish. A basic wheat with some light tartness. Sweet and chalky in the middle but cleans up on the finish. Drinks good.
