Bottle. Dark ruby-brown with a medium, foamy tan head. Big caramel, sweet malt, soft spicy hops, and toasted grains. Dark bread, toasted malt, caramel, sweet malt, faint fruit notes and spicy hops. Body is medium-full and rather chewy with a moderate, creamy, bubbly carbonation. Ends with more spicy hops, light citrus, dark bready notes, caramel, sweet malt and burnt biscuit. The beer pours a medium brown color with a huge off-white/tan head. The aroma is toffee and biscuit malt, with a sugary smell that resembles Bazooka bubblegum. The flavor has a lot of malt sweetness, with some strong toffee and caramel notes. There is also a lot of sugary sweetness, with the bubblegum notes once again present. The alcohol is well hidden and it is very hard to tell that the beer is more than 9 percent. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. thornecb (6152) - Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA - MAR 31, 2012
Pours deep mahogany into a Sam glass. Mocha conglomerate head with medium retention leaves sheet lacing as it recedes. Roasted nuts, caramel and cereal aromas. Sweet toffee and treacle upfront turning to mild roasted nuts before the lasting hot caramel finish. rumproasts (6052) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - APR 29, 2012
deep reddish brown, but very clear. minimal head. smells of roasted malt and caramel. strong alcohol impact to the tastebuds. there’s some good flavor there, but there’s also a cough syrup flavor that i can’t get past. if it were less boozy, i’d definitely like it better. notalush (5955) - Lakewood, Colorado, USA - MAR 30, 2012
A 9.3% alt? - what the shit? - also, I read this as "derp’s alt" - her der! - probably fitting, considering that this beer is seriously retarded - crazy strong alcohol presence - odd bubblegum notes and moderate esters - messy spicy character - some brown sugar and banana - some raisin and fig - finish is seriously hot - so, so damn messy.

12 oz. bb Aug 2012. Clear, deep mahogany with a lasting disc of creamy foam. Nose is cocoa, toffee, dates, banana, marshmallow and citrus. Taste is similar, but has more dark toffee and raisin. Peppery citrus zest, some grassy hop, and acidity from the roast are nearly able to tame the big malts when the finish rolls around. Heavy body is smoothly carbonated, a tad sticky, and shows just a hint of the 9.3%. burg326 (5628) - Florida, USA - AUG 31, 2012
12 ounce bottle poured an amber redish color, with aromas of malt, over riped fruit, light citrus, and some caramel. Flavors are the same, heavy malt flavor overall, did not taste like a 9.3% beer that is for sure. mar (5456) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JUL 19, 2012
deep amber pour with a cream head. nose is huge on the malts, caramel, sweet, and sticky. nice on the palate, sticky malts, toffee, caramel, dough, and bread. beerguy101 (5364) - Newark, California, USA - JUL 20, 2012
Sampled on 7/7/2012. This altbier pours a dark brown color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized beige white head with decent retention and nice lacing. The aroma is caramel, malt, sweet and bready. A medium bodied altbier. The malts are caramel, bready and sweet. The hops are herbal and earthy. Decent carbonation. Nice sweet bready malts. Tastes like a dopple sticke. Hides the alcohol well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. travita (5008) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JUN 30, 2012
Bottle. Ruby red, brownish, off white head, and clear. The smell is big sweet maltyiness, some fruit, vanilla, maple, nuts. The taste is a sweet, almond, amaretto, cherry, and decent despite the big sweetness.
