Clear red amber, two finger white foam head. Big aroma, pine, orange, grapefruit, pineapple, some malt. Taste is big and crazy. Lemon, lime, pear, vanilla, toasty malt, yeast, big pine bite. Body is rather big, and carbonation light. A little off balance. dwyerpg (6297) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - APR 28, 2013
This smells fantastic! Quite tasty. Has enought malts that it’s actually a bit on the heavy side, yet the flavor is great. I could drink a lot of these. Perhaps the best "Sam Adams" IPA. SSSteve (4006) - - APR 28, 2013
bottle. a clear bronze beer with a small head. a lot of pine and citrus in aroma. incredibly malty for the style with caramel, toast and even some mild chocolate that provides balance and battles back against what i’m sure is an aggressive hop addition. the malts smooth out the palate and it washes down without any biting bitterness in the finish. medium to full bodied. its a different 2ipa for a change, however i’ve had beers like this classified under american strongs on this site before. queenholly (3623) - South Whitley, Indiana, USA - APR 28, 2013
Bottle Orange, caramel malt, earthy piney hops aroma. Deep amber with a large yellowed ivory head. Metallic, caramel malt, orange peel, charred toast, and earthy piney hops flavor. Full sticky body, soft carbonation. thegreenrooster (4490) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - APR 27, 2013
Pour is a reddish brown with a huge tan head. Aroma is a spicy rye but I don’t think it was used. I also get a ok piney hop. Flavor is a nice hoppy resin with a heavy sweet malt presence. Finish is again very sweet with a little hop resin left on the tounge. This was decent but a bit heavy and sweet. Best of this years longshot pack.

Bottle. Copper hue with a short, dense tan head. Aroma is pine, hop resins, caramel and citrus. Taste is big caramel, chewy malt notes, pine, citrus, hop resins and floral notes. Body is medium and rather chewy with a strong, dense carbonation. Ends with more pine resin, citrus, big caramel, toasted malt, floral and earthy hops and light spicy hops. Tasty! kmweaver (3207) - Petaluma, California, USA - APR 26, 2013
UPDATED: APR 27, 2013 12oz bottle, courtesy of Boston Beer. Thanks! Pours a hazy, deep golden-orange color; off-white head with modest retention and fine-bubbled lacing. Lots of lightly oxidized caramel and crystal malts in the aroma; pine and citrus bitterness, though the crystal malts take center stage. Medium-full body; fine-bubbled, medium co2; sufficient core bitterness, focusing on citrus and pine, though the overall profile is muddled by hefty additions of crystal malts and a bit of oxidation/stale malts; this could have been a better beer, given the hops present, but the muddled core complicates things. Lasting finish of sugar and crystalline sweetness. blutt59 (6573) - Dallas, Texas, USA - APR 26, 2013

12 oz. bottle. Pours a deep amber with a tight foamy khaki head that leave a film. Aroma has nice earthy floral and citrus hop notes and sweet caramel. Taste is bitter sweet with plenty of malt and piny grapefruit hops along with earthy florals and a subtle resinous finish. Palate is medium slick and finishes dry. Pretty solid double with a lower than the norm ABV. umich03jm (3513) - Flat Rock, Michigan, USA - APR 24, 2013
Bottle. Pours a clear amber color with a small head that quickly fades, leaves a little lacing. Spicy and piney aroma mixed with a sweet caramel malt aroma. Taste is decent but too sweet. Malty caramel sweet taste mixed with spicy, piney, and citrus hops. Moderate bitterness but somehow the sweetness seems to overpower it still. Dry finish. Overall, decent but too sweet.
