12oz. bottle. Aroma of floral, fruity, citric hop and lightly sweet caramel malts, with notes of grapefruit, pine, lemon and some light malt toast in the background. Clear medium copper in color with a lasting, creamy, off-white head and very nice lacing. Flavor profile is full of fresh, fruity, leafy hop flavor throughout, but with a rather malty, sweet, honeyish, toasty caramel backbone, and finishing with a moderate amount of hop bitterness, pine and biscuit undertones. Smooth, low in effervescence and lightly resinous on the palate, body is medium-full. Very easy to drink, sort of a mellow take on the style. Pours dark amber with a tall, ivory-tan head.
Aroma is baked bread, caramel, pine.
Taste is caramel malt, strong resiny hops.
Well done. trujahwarrior (510) - Monroe, Washington, USA - JUL 21, 2013
12oz bottle poured into my ipa glass. Pours a dark copper color with a medium tan head that leaves great lacing. Smells of pine, grapefruit, lemon, resin, and caramel. Tastes of all the same things in the smell. Mouthfeel is medium and oily with decent carbonation and a dry finish. This is the best from this series of longshot beers. Nice and hoppy for a east coast style ipa. My only complaint is that it not as balanced as it could be and is a little rough on the palate. radagast83 (8011) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - JUL 20, 2013
Thanks to arg0. Poured a clear amber color with a nice citrus, earthy hops. Flavor was notes of earthy and citrus hops. Okay flavors, slighty muted floral and citrus hops. BeerandBlues2 (13210) - Escondido, California, USA - JUL 20, 2013

12 oz. bottle shared by DrSilverworm. Pours a clear honey amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma has some toasted caramel malts, and noticeable, but not overpowering spicy, resiny and citrus hops. There was a touch of something I didn’t enjoy, perhaps a hint of cheese. The flavor has some toasted bread and caramel with spicy, resiny and grapefruit citrus hops. Very smooth for an imperial/double ipa, but the flavor is good. Could be a bit more bitter though. drowland (8629) - Georgia, USA - JUL 16, 2013
12oz bottle from Tipple’s. Amber orange pour with a small khaki head. Faint hop aroma, mostly on the sweet malty side, some citrus and dank aspects. Malty, caramel flavor as well, some lingering bitterness and citrus and dank hop character. This was either underwhelming or had a bit of age on it. brokensail (16436) - Dublin, California, USA - JUL 15, 2013
Amber pour with a white head. Sweet, caramel aroma. Some bread, toast, and fruit. Orange peel, grass, and a bit of weed. Some pine and a light lemon note. The flavor is pretty "meh" as well. Sweet bread and caramel malt. Some orange, lemon, and pine. Fairly grassy, lightly bitter, and somewhat astringent on the finish. GT (10000) - San Diego, California, USA - JUL 14, 2013
355mL thanks to womencantsail. Pours a clear deep red with thick yellow foam. Spotty lacing. Nose is extremely cheesy, lemon peel, just stale DIPA all around. Taste is dusty, nutty, lemon peel...metallic. Palate is astringent, nutty, harsh. Nothing I hate more than stale DIPA. Ick. shigadeyo (3730) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 13, 2013
7/13/2013: Samuel Adams LongShot 2013 Magnificent Seven created by Zack Adams... This is an attractive amber beer with a clean complexion and frothy beige head. The aroma is definitely hoppy, but it unfortunately it requies one to get their nose down into the glass to smell the spicy, herbal, pine and almost cheesy hops. The flavor is fairly aggressive and definitely several steps up from the other beers in the LongShot 6-pack. It starts strong and malty with brown sugar, caramel and bread crust, then shifts into an assault of hoppy flavors including PINE, yellow grapefruit, lemon peel, rsein, and a pinch of spicy herbs. The hops definitely dominate, which is good, but the bitterness level on this beer is fairly constrained. Good hop flavor profile though. Wow, this puppy is strong and the alochol makes no attempt to hide. Despite that, this is a pretty solid beer. I wouldn’t call it "sessionable" by any stretch, but I am enjoying the bottle... SLOWLY! I was really hoping that this beer would deliver the "big grapefruit, pine & resinous notes" that the label promised, and I’m happy to say that it did. Finally, a beer worth buying the 2013 LongShot 6-pack to try!
