Zack Adams’s Magnificent Seven IPA is described as “a showcase of seven American hop varieties that impart a big piney and lingering resinous flavor. A true Imperial American IPA, this brew pours a rich bronze color. The slightly sweet malt character is pleasantly balanced by a pronounced hop bitterness with grapefruit, pine and earthy notes from the American hops. This medium-bodied IPA also delivers caramel, citrus, lemon and piney aromas.

Bottle: Amber-Brown color with a big, frothy light tan head. Aroma: floral, resin, grapefruit.... Smells wonderful. Taste is not as bitter as I thought it would be... Nice. It’s got a citrusy lemon thing going on too... Nicely balanced.

12 ounce bottle. Nice copper colored liquid topped by a small creamy beige head. Lovely clinging Belgian lace. Toasted malt nose quickly yields to the aggressive hop bombardment that awaits. Notes of pine and citrus are foremost here. Burnt caramel malt mixes with the resiny hops to offer a nicely balanced ale with moderate body and depth. Buttery and chewy mouthfeel leads to a spicy dry hop finish that is long and tasty. An outstanding DIPA.

Bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs.). Looks solid; very malty though. A somewhat hazy amberish brown with off-white head that dissipates into lacing. Smells solid too; bitter, pine, and citrus hops with a malty backbone. Tastes like it smells with a nice, smooth mouthfeel. A pleasantly well-balanced beer.

12 oz bottle - pours dark red caramel, slight white head, diminishing. Easy lacing. Aroma of grain, biscuit, malt, and oranges. Round and decent. Malty. Full bodied with long finish. Pretty good if not my type.

Heavy pine and caramel nose. Fully sweet, boozy sticky palate. Quite a bit of bite (read not real smooth) in the palate. Still, as it is flavorful and substantial, I enjoyed it. Not up the being named after a great Clash song however.

The aroma is full of hops, pine, citrus, and resin. There is also lots of syrupy malt. The taste is like the aroma with a bitter bite at the end that is a wee bit off putting. The palate is smooth. While lacking anything defining or outstanding this is a really solid IIPA.

Hoppy smell. Pretty nice pour, foaming then settles to a rocky head. Darker orange look. Did seem to be a little viscous in the glass. On the palate this is a mouth coating rototilling ball of soapy wax. wew. Terribly on style. Burns a little going down the throat. Not impressed by this style.

Probably the most disappointing of the group. Pours a golden orange color. Aroma is fine, just doesn’t knock my socks off. Too much caramel here for my taste. The hop bitterness is good but this group of 7 don’t coalesce on my palate.

this is a real treat, the hops in this beer are just about perfect with the bitterness but not overly astringent at the end. the malts form nicely too. its a great beer,
