2008. Created by homebrewer Alex Drobshoff. Alexs Brew is a bright copper German inspired bock with a complex, full bodied mouthfeel. Hints of rich plum and cherry aromas paired with its toasty, malt flavor make this the perfect beer to linger over on a cool evening.

Pours a clear dark brown with deep ruby highlights and a fluffy off white head that sticks around forever. Smells a bit grainy with some plums and melanoid in there as well. Taste is brown sugar, dark dried fruits, Caramelized sugars, maybe a hint of licorice. The taste is a little sweet. Nice malt taste. Syrupy mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Not a bad bock.

I gave this one a try twice by picking up the 2009 Longshot pack. When I tried it the first time I didnt really think that much of it, I almost gave it away but decided to give it another shot. I was very impressed by the color of the beer, very clear but at the same time a deep dark brown color. Nice smell to it as well rich malty smell with the hops finishing off nicely. I wish I could say the taste matched up, it really didnt. I felt like you could really taste the alcohol, which was strange because the content isnt really that high. I couldnt really taste the hops. Maybe I just got a bad batch but I wasnt really that impressed with the taste. The mouth feel and drinkability and mouthfeel was pretty good but still doesnt make up for the taste.

G: Poured into a Becks 0.4L pilsner glass. A: Pours a dark, molasses color with a creamy tan/off-white head thats of a decent size. Dark in color but mostly transparent. A good amount of carbonation coming up. S: Sweet, dark malts with a hint of dark sugars and perhaps a tad bit of molasses. Some caramel. Not at all strong. T: Strong-tasting and complex--much better than what I got from the nose. Dark malts and grain with some dates and definite caramel. Slightly bitter. M: Very creamy and medium-bodied. Moderate amount of carbonation, and the slightest hint of alcohol. D: Good drinkability. Great mouthfeel and above average taste--the smell is the only thing thats holding this one back.

Pours hazy reddish brown with white head, aroma of dark fruit, roasted malt, some bread. Taste is nice spice up front, some hints of chocolate, leading into sweet dark fruit, molasses, finishing with roasted and slightly bitter finish. Pretty good.

Bottle on 08/23/2010. Clear dark brown body with a large frothy tan head. Sweet toasty and bready malt aroma. Sweet bready flavor, some toasty and light caramel flavor. Medium full body with moderate carbonation.

Malty with alcohol apparent. Lots of sweet malt, grainy character, good head. Missing something compared to the best German bocks, but a pretty good effort. I think extended lagering would have helped this one quite a bit as all of the ingredients are there.

Pours a rich amber copper color with a frothy off white head. Roasty and sweet chocolatey malt aroma with a hint of raisins or dried fruit. It does have a bit of a dry feeling, although creamy. Taste is pretty moderate. Bitter malt up front and a long lingering smokey finish that almost turns sweet. Nice balance.

Huge toffee aroma, pours dark brown and fairly clear. Large malt flavours but very boozy palate. Sweet in the start that is fading into a sort of musty flavour. I think this has gone off a little but not too much to ruin it. Quite boozy... Not bad, not great.

This bottled brew from a rating party poured a small sized head of foamy fine to medium sized light brown colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a transparent dark orange brown colored body. The aroma was old ale malty and woody. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The slightly off tasting flavor contained odd notes of malt that I did not care for. A horrible one that I would rather not drink again.

Bottle. Pours a clear, deep ruby-brown color, with only a thin film of head. Aroma is of carmel, some some kind of tart fruit (non-discript) and warm alcohol. Flavor is of carmel malts with some residual sweetness and a long, oily bitterness. Something about it is a tiny bit too astringent for my taste. In this beers defense, I have never been much of a Bock guy.
