Samuel Adams is bringing you Maple Pecan Porter. A nutty syrupy porter that just reeks of New England.
Sweet New England maple syrup and a distinct pecan note define this balanced porter. The roasted character of our blend of malts complements the maple sweetness with hints of coffee and chocolate. Reddish-black in color, this full-bodied brew has a sweet and slightly nutty finish.

Bottle from Spring variety pack. Pours cola brown with a frothy, tan head. Sweet malts, caramel, chocolate and nutty aroma. Initial flavor is bittersweet cocoa with a nutty dryness. The maple flavor really comes out in the finish and lingers nicely on your lips. Creamy texture with average carbonation. Might be a little too sweet for some folks but this is quite tasty.

12oz bottle from the Spring Mix pack, again, in freaking December, but I regress. Pours a very dark brown with a thick tan head, aroma is very nutty and sweet with quite a bit of caramel, the flavor has a lot of toffee on the front end with the maple coming through in the finish, quite a bit actually, a little bit of chocolate as well, actually not all that bad.

Nutty with maple slightly dry. Tastes like a bit of artificial. Its okay better than others in the mix pack.

Thin, but better than I expected. Pours cola brown a tiny white head that disappears instantly. It’s OK. Smells nice.

Pours a dark brown with a slightly creamy beige head, slowly fading and some lacing. Aroma and taste of sweet malt, roasted caramel and some pleasant maple syrup flavor. Palate is a medium body, slightly creamy with mild carbonation and a bit sticky. Finishes with a sweet lightly roasted caramel and a bit of nutty pecan maple syrup ending. Overall a good drinking and flavorful brew.

This is a great tasting beer. You can really taste the carmel notes in the beer while you drink it. The aroma had notes of the pecan and maple in it. Really great beer and I wish they would put it in a six pack for fall.

Bottle:   Deep brown, strong burgundy hues, thin to moderate frothy light beige head, spotty lacing.   Roasted malt nose, faint maple syrup and perhaps pecans.   Sweet on the tongue, pecans are more noticeable here.   Roast malts aren’t as strong.   More maple syrup as it warms.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Finishes sweet, nutty, with maple syrup and candied pecans.   Needs to actually have a bit more bitterness to counteract the sweetness.   As is, not bad.   On the sweet side for sure.   Enjoyable, but bring me more of that roasted bitterness and then this would be exceptional!

12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark brown almost black with a light tan head, good lacing. Smells of syrup caramel, roasted nuts and malts. Taste is very sweet, slightly nutty, notes of caramel chocolate and molasses. A roasty smokiness in the finish. Mouth feel is medium to thick, good for the style. This one and the IPL definitely highlight their Spring Thaw Variety Pack.

Pailhead (6543) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - JUL 7, 2013
Bottle: The aroma consists of light-moderate maple syrup, light smoke, roast, and faint pecans/nuts. It pours a dark brown with some faint orange transparency. It has a one finger khaki head that quickly fades to a thin film and leaves behind some thin webbing on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with a combination of light-moderate maple syrup, chocolate, and caramel. The finish has light-moderate roast, some light nuttiness from the pecans, and just a hint of smoke. It’s medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, it’s a solid Porter, but it’s not as good as I was hoping...nor as sweet as I had feared.
