Part of the Beer Lover’s Choice 2011.

Samuel Adams is bringing you Maple Pecan Porter. A nutty syrupy porter that just reeks of New England.
Sweet New England maple syrup and a distinct pecan note define this balanced porter. The roasted character of our blend of malts complements the maple sweetness with hints of coffee and chocolate. Reddish-black in color, this full-bodied brew has a sweet and slightly nutty finish.

This beer smelled like nuts and roasted malts, and the appearance was a deep brown with a medium tan head. The taste was quite sweet and a touch sour, and the palate combined a medium body, soft carbonation, and an abrupt finish for a drinkable, sweet, yet sturdy beer.

Deep brown with mahogany highlights and a decent beige head. Aroma is heavy maple, light tree bark, roasted malts and coffee. Taste is of caramel, pecan, chocolate, maple, sweet cream.

Bottled pours brown with light tan head. Coffee maple syrup and nuttiness aromas abound. Moderately sweet? Medium bodied. Finish is maple syrup sweetness, not sure what I was expecting, but this wasn’t my favorite

I loved this beer. Very sweet with dark maple flavors and a creamy smooth texture to finish.

Maple and pecan are aftertastes. Overriding flavor is coffee, and flavor is outstanding.

Clear dark brown with a creamy off-white. Aroma of syrup, coffee and nuts. Taste is sweet with a slight bitterness. Medium bodied, a little creamy, and slightly dry but still a tad thinnish.

12oz bottle poured into pint glass. This is the beer that sold me on the Sam Adams Spring Sampler pack. Pours a dark brown with a decent light tan head that leaves a fair amount of lacing. Not getting a whole lot of aroma here. Faint roasted malts, slight pecan and maple. Nothing much at all. Taste is malts up front and a bit too strong. Maple and pecan come in behind the malts, but both are somewhat watered down and dulled. Strong maple taste in the finish. Medium body, somewhat thin, slick texture, average carbonation. Big disappointment, although I probably had my expectations too high. Certainly nothing special though.

Bottle. Poured dark reddish brown color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate roasted malt and maple aroma. Medium body and smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. This beer is better then my expectations.
