Part of the Beer Lover’s Choice 2011.

Samuel Adams is bringing you Maple Pecan Porter. A nutty syrupy porter that just reeks of New England.
Sweet New England maple syrup and a distinct pecan note define this balanced porter. The roasted character of our blend of malts complements the maple sweetness with hints of coffee and chocolate. Reddish-black in color, this full-bodied brew has a sweet and slightly nutty finish.

ganache (5903) - New Jersey, USA - JAN 31, 2013
Fresh bottle by JUN 2013. Nose lightly of roast with some tar and a hint of ash in there, some burnt notes and perhaps licorice. Dark brown looks black enough, tannish head. Taste sweet with roast and faint coffee, syrupy sugar on the sides, there is a hint of nuts there but it’s more like they’ve been glazed in sugar solution and caramelized over heat. Lightly fruity, very crsip full body, very low bitterness and no signs of hops. This is a lot like a lot of the sweeter East German Schwarzbiere but without the lagery body.

Dark brown pour with an awesome maple syrup, nutty and roasted malt nose. Taste isn’t nearly as good as the smell. Roasted malts and hops with a clean finish.

Westmeister (2129) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - JAN 31, 2013
Pours a clear dark amber brown with large chunky tan head and nice lacing. Smell is roast, sweet caramel, maple. Taste is smooth sweet malts and maple that is well integrated. I get the nuttiness on the backend. I actually liked this one and thought the sweetness was just in check.

thornecb (5914) - Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 28, 2013
Pours deep mahogany into a Sam glass. Mocha head craters and recedes leaving sticky lacing. Sweet caramel, maple and coffee aromas. Thin- to medium-bodied with sweet maple upfront turning to nutty pecan in the middle before the lasting bitter earth finish.

Fratto (2845) - Arlington, Texas, USA - JAN 27, 2013
Bottle from Kroger. Deep brown pour with an off-white head. Aroma is lots of maple and caramel Taste is more maple and caramel, very sweet, but then a bitter nutty finish.

PorterPounder (7970) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - JAN 27, 2013
Tallahassee, Fl - Publix Supermarket - Killearn - 12 oz bottle - part of their ’Spring Thaw’ Variety Pak. Deep, dark brown pour, initially frothy khaki colored head that leaves plenty of lacing. Aroma is lacking just a bit in pungency - brief maple notes. Flavor more than makes up for the aroma. Nice maple accents, not cloyingly sweet, hints of baker’s unsweetened chocolate and the back end is full of pecan pie. Thick and rich mouthfeel. Impressive.

Brewbie (479) - New York, USA - JAN 27, 2013
12oz bottle. dark with ruby highlights, thin tan head. aroma of dark roast. sweet at first taste, lots of pecan and maple jumps out front. the sweetness is not overpowering, just a nice balance

This was surprisingly good. Rich roasted toasted malt nose. Even richer palate, complex, well blended toasted malty notes, with bourbon sticky sweetness and the maple and pecan touches. A great winter beer after a day out hiking.

OmegaX (1374) - Florida, USA - JAN 27, 2013
What a nice brew! Thanks, Chipalsa! Aroma is big walnut and pecan with a touch of maple and roast as it warms up. Pour is dark brown, light tan head. The flavors are very balanced with roasted notes up front, some nuttiness to follow, earthy notes, and a sweeter maple finish. An awesome effort by Sam Adams.
