22 oz bottle of Samuel Adams Merry Maker stout served in a Belgian snifter.
Pours dark brown, opaque in the glass with ruby edges. OK head and lacing.
Aroma: appealing mix of gingerbread and dark roasted grains with a good bit of alcohol.
Flavor: largely follows the aroma, but less boozy and more ginger.
O: improves with warming. fidelis83 (2587) - Clinton, Iowa, USA - FEB 4, 2016
Black pour with a tall, creamy brown head. Aroma is full of pie spice, some toast, mild roast and a hint of chocolate. Flavor is pie spice, licorice, roast, burnt sugar, chicory and a light lactose-like sweetness. Medium body, really creamy feel, light, blanketing, smooth carbonation. Good stuff overall, reall does taste a lot like gingerbread. AnokaBrewer (229) - Anoka, Minnesota, USA - FEB 3, 2016

Pours inky brown with a medium brown head. Nose is ginger, allspice, charcoal, flavor balances to malty sweetness, long slightly chalky mouthfeel. The charcoal lingers. It is good. donandres (707) - Makati, PHILIPPINES - JAN 25, 2016

Big fluffy head. Big nose. Nice sweetness balanced with earthy hops. Medium amount of spices, not too overwhelming. Nice ginger notes. Good finish. I’m not a Sam Adams fan but I like this one for a change. Xevious (78) - Amarillo, Texas, USA - JAN 20, 2016
This rich dark gingerbread stout entices with the aromas of the holidays. The flavor of gingerbread comes alive, beginning with the smooth sweetness and heartiness of dark roasted malts and a touch of wheat. But it’s the intensity and spices of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, & ginger that add a wicked kick for a jolly playful brew full of merry mischief.
Bottle was an attention getter.
Pours an odd dark, almost black coffee color with a massive creamy head with some lacing. Smells strongly of wheat and roasted malts with a gingery bready smell.
Taste? Bready, spicy cinnamon with ginger and nutmeg and possibly a dahs of molasses. Finishes kind of odd.
Overall it’s a fine holiday specialty brew that’s perfect for a cold snap! raymow (1966) - Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 2, 2016

Bottle. Pours black with thick brown head. Aroma is Gingerbread and Chocolate. Taste is chocolate gingerbread with a spicy cookie finish. I like it’s excellent for a gingerbread beer. IslandHaole (1303) - Misawa, JAPAN - DEC 29, 2015
Opaque black in color with a small reddish/tan head. Sweet spice cake with hints of Allspice and Cardamom, very tasty. Reminds me of the gourmet lollipops from See’s Candy. Warming alcohol, nice mouth feel, lightly sticky sweet. I’m enjoying this! The 9% is well masked but noticeable in the warming finish.
