COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This rich dark gingerbread stout entices with the aromas of the holidays. The flavor of gingerbread comes alive, beginning with the smooth sweetness and heartiness of dark roasted malts and a touch of wheat. But it’s the intensity and spices of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, & ginger that add a wicked kick for a jolly playful brew full of merry mischief.

Sample from a tasting at Sam’s, Durham. It was a chilly day, so the spiced stout style appealed. Thick dark brown pour, a silky, gritty body. Nose was fairly unapologetic in its spiciness but it seemed to work with the richness of the chocolate base. Certainly did taste strongly like a gingerbread cookie but other spice notes like nutmeg, cinnamon, even a hint of clove were in there too. I don’t know if I could do a bomber of this but the sample I had was plenty enjoyable.

Bottle. Molasses, cake, and ginger, and anise aroma. Black with a huge tan head, thick creamy lacing. Molasses, anise, lightly smoky malt, ginger, and cola flavor. Medium body, flat carbonation.

3/8/13. 22oz bottle from Warehouse ages ago. Rich black pour, maybe some browns and reds under the light, with a nice tan head that cuts in half but coats the glass. Huge cinnamon aroma with bits of ginger, nutmeg, all-spice, molasses, etc. Not my cup of tea. I hate spiced beers. However. Boom. The flavor is... weirdly dead on. Spiced ginger, cinnamon, Christmas spices, burnt molasses, and more pretty dead on gingerbread aspects with a touch of roast. Meh aroma, good flavor. Yum.

Batch 1 Black pour with a thin beige creamy head and light sticky lacing .... Aroma of ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove with some dark chocolate .... Taste of mostly ginger, clove, nutmeg and cinnamon with a nice spicy roasted chocolate has a bitter bite ..... Body is thinner and way too spicy. ... Not feeling the gingerbread aspect too much or the beer

bottle - Near black pour, smells of ginger, roast malt, and spices. The flavor is sweet with ginger, nutmeg, and cinnamon apparent. It’s full bodied and finishes with roast malt and spice lingering on the palate. Interesting and good.

Black with a tan head. Aroma definitely has similarities to gingerbread, hints of sweetness and spice together. Flavor is similar, but it gets a little confused. There’s the gingerbread combined with roasted malt and an overwhelming sweetness in the finish. It’s interesting, but I don’t love it.

A nice black body with a brown head. Which was about 2 fingers thick, but faded away quickly, leaving little retention and lace. Aroma had a nice bittersweet cocoa malt presence upfront. nice hints of roasted malts and nice gingerbread spices in the background. Initial flavor was sweet, mostly from bittersweet chocolate notes, Some nice roasted malt notes balanced out the sweetness. Finishing with a nice form ginger flavor, Some nutmeg was present but the ginger flavor really came through. Smooth and creamy finish.
