Black with ruby highlights. Decent head and lacing. Aroma of ginger, cinnamon and clove. Same in taste with nutmeg and finishes with some coffee. Finishes fairly dry. Liked better than I thought.

Pours a light tan, four-finger head that fades slowly leaving some lace. Jet black color, no highlights. Good carbonation and medium-heavy bodied. Ginger and clove nose. Flavor is almost like gingerbread, well balanced, higher ABV is hidden. $7.25 for a 22oz bottle from Tully’s Beer & Wine Wells, Me. kambei70 (1082) - - JAN 13, 2013
Pours dark brown to black with very little dark khaki head. Smell is gingerbread, clove, nutmeg and malt. Taste is gingerbread, nutmeg, clove, with some coffee in the end. Not enough sweetness. Mouthfeel is medium thick. Okay.

Pours brown/black with a small-ish head. Aroma of gingersnaps, earth, licorice, acidic coffee, and toffee. Flavors follow similar suit with gentle stout notes and abundant spicing: so lots of gingersnap flavor, and some background earth, coffee, dark chocolate and general roastiness. slight sweetness is noticeable as it warms. Finishes a little tangy with an astringent aftertaste and flavors of ginger, licorice, bad coffee, and dark chocolate. Not too bitter. Medium-heavy bodied with a prickly carbonation and a hollow mouthfeel, it’s not the smoothest beer. I honestly thought I would like this more than I do, but nothing seems to come together clearly and the astringent (or acidic or tangy) type of flavors put me off. Oh well. mwbrady12 (469) - Orlando, Florida, USA - JAN 12, 2013
True gingerbread aroma and taste with a dark black pour and cinnamon spicy mouthfeel.

Aroma of spice - cloves and yes gingerbread. Pours a deep dark black with a mostly diminishing tan head which turns into a tan ring. The taste is similar to the nose - mildly sweet. Ginger bread and the appropriate spices. Medium body and medium carbonation. Overall, very nice and enjoyable.

Black color with a medium head. Aroma of nutmeg and allspice. Very malty flavor. Lots of roast. The spice profile is dominated by allspice. nike (966) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 10, 2013
I have to admit I was surprised by this one. Sam Adams making a beer a little more on the bold side. Ususaly there beers are more on the mild side, but this one had some different flavors to it. Even has a little more balance and a touch of complexity for this brewery. olr1984 (1500) - fort wayne, Indiana, USA - JAN 9, 2013
22oz bottle. Pours a dark black with large tan foamy head that sticks around for a while. There’s a molasses, cinnamon, chocolate aroma. Malty taste with hints of cinnamon and ginger. bhensonb (15336) - Woodland, California, USA - JAN 8, 2013
Bottle from the Folsom BevMo. Pours a very dark brown with a 2 finger creamy dark tan head. Aroma is dark malt and lots of spice - clove and ginger seem to stand out. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. The flavor is incredibly flavorful. Nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, particularly (in sort of aftertaste) ginger, but there seems to be even more. The spice is so strong I’d go for rosemary, except the evergreen is missing. To borrow from the movie: "Intense is the word" Woof.
