COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This rich dark gingerbread stout entices with the aromas of the holidays. The flavor of gingerbread comes alive, beginning with the smooth sweetness and heartiness of dark roasted malts and a touch of wheat. But it’s the intensity and spices of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, & ginger that add a wicked kick for a jolly playful brew full of merry mischief.

Poured into a snifter out of a 22oz bomber. Pours pitch black with a fairly thick one finger dark tan head. While head retention isn’t especially outstanding, the lacing is. This is really a nice looking beer. Gingerbread is huge in the aroma along with a healthy dose of clove. Really no subtleties here. Some cinnamon and allspice but I really have to try hard to pick out any stout characteristics. Almost no roast, coffee, or chocolate. A little too spice heavy. On the taste, there is a little more going on. Still extremely heavy on the spices with ginger, nutmeg and allspice dominating. Peel that back, however, and you have some vanilla and cinnamon notes along with some hints of baked bread, molasses, and brown sugar. I honestly tastes like taking a bite of a gingerbread man. You really need to let the beer warm up a little for the flavors to make a big impact. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy but the sweetness remains dialed back enough to make this fairly drinkable. I have to say I had my doubts at first but Samuel Adams has really pulled off a good one. This beer is so gingerbread like it is scary. Like someone put a pulverized gingerbread man into a stout. I really wish I would’ve tried this earlier so I could have picked up another bottle to age.

Silky smooth stout . Very dark with a brief tan head. It does have a nice, subtle gingerbread flavor. A good holiday - winter beer . Cheers. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2016/12/02 - Pours black with a thick, frothy, tan head that quickly reduces and leaves moderate lacing. Aroma is heavy spices (clove, cinnamon, nutmeg), ginger, roasted malt, milk chocolate and light herbal notes. Taste is sweet chocolate, licorice, gingerbread, spices, herbal hops and roasted malt. Mouthfeel is medium and silky with creamy carbonation and a drying, herbal finish. ABV is very well hidden. Pretty good.

Walnut brown color with a decent beige head. Aroma is spiced with cloves, coriander, molasses and chocolate malt. Dark roasted malt flavor with lots of herbal spiciness. Full bodied and thick with a long spicy finish. I couldn;t drink a ton of these but it’s not bad for an occasional treat..

Ginger and nutmeg with a bit of choc aromas come from this black brew with virtually no head. Full bodied, choc and gingerbread with a hint of cinnamon come from this brew. Flavors offset the 9%. Not a bad brew.

22 oz bottle of Samuel Adams Merry Maker stout served in a Belgian snifter. Pours dark brown, opaque in the glass with ruby edges. OK head and lacing. Aroma: appealing mix of gingerbread and dark roasted grains with a good bit of alcohol. Flavor: largely follows the aroma, but less boozy and more ginger. O: improves with warming.

Black pour with a tall, creamy brown head. Aroma is full of pie spice, some toast, mild roast and a hint of chocolate. Flavor is pie spice, licorice, roast, burnt sugar, chicory and a light lactose-like sweetness. Medium body, really creamy feel, light, blanketing, smooth carbonation. Good stuff overall, reall does taste a lot like gingerbread.
