Jack McAuliffes pioneering spirit paved the way for the American craft beer revolution. Were rereleasing his original Pale Ale, with its distinct American hop character for the first time in 30 years in honor of Jack and his contributions to craft brewing. Cheers!

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks Yoav. Clear golden. Aroma has citric hops, kinda stale, and light oxidation notes. Flavor has a bit of sweetish malt and a mild hop bitterness, a bit stale. Medium-bodied.

Holy shit is this garbage juice. Literally. Sweet corn flavored water that came out of a dumpster behind the golden coral.

12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy light gold with a 1 finger white head. Minor lace. Weak aroma of biscuity malt & foral hops. Flavor is semi sweet with more biscuit followed by some mild pine resin. Thin palate. Not a lot going on here. If this is the beer that started the craft beer movement, than its a wonder it got off the ground. Boston Lager is way better.

Clear-golden color with soft white head. Sweet bready aroma with some light orange/orange-peel aroma. Light bodied, lightly sweet-bread with some of that orange/orange-peel character. A nice idea and Im glad they did this project...not a bad beer, but such a defined SA malt character shows through that it makes me believe that this is far from the original taste.

Orange. Sweet smelling hops. Not much bitterness in body. Mostly sweet flavors that dont last too long. Fairly enjoyable but fairly short, lacking a long lasting palate. Overall I liked it, though its a little bit of an unfulfilling experience.

This brew was almost indistinguishable from PBR. If this is how they brewed it in the Old Days then Im glad we live in the modern era.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is dark yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (grain), lightly hoppy (flowers), with light notes of DMS, celery, ammonia, detergent. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, unclean. Medium body, syrupy texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. How incredibly insulting to Jack. All kinds of off notes in the nose (smells like swill lager to be completely honest, theres nothing attractive about it other than some faint hops), and its ridiculously syrupy sweet and dirty in the mouth. It blows my mind that this was considered acceptable, much less good. At least Sierra Nevadas Jack and Kens brew was decent, this is truly repulsive.
