Draft. Deep brown body. Frothy beige head. Lots of oak and vanilla in the aroma. Also notes of sweet milk chocolate, toffee, toasted grain. Hint of bourbon because of the oak and vanilla. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Vanilla tasting and way too sweet. Watery, too. j12601 (13302) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - MAY 9, 2013
On tap at Elaine’s. Pours a clear brown with ruby highlights and a thin to medium sized beige head. Big sweet caramel and vanilla and wood. Medium, sweet caramel and a bit of plum. Soft toffee warm cocoa and wood. Easy drinking but a bit thin and watery at times. Sammy (12995) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 21, 2013
On tap at Kickbacks. Big oak, big lace, the finish is bitter and a tad astringent. Drying. Still a serviceable porter and glad to catch up to it. SHIG (4965) - Wasilla, Alaska, USA - DEC 29, 2012

Draft to taster. Looks solid; pitch black with thin beige lacing. Smells mildly malty. Tastes like it smells with some roastiness; not much oak though. Average on the palate. Underwhelming.

Served on draft at Max’s. Pours a clear dark brown color with a large creamy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of spicy wood, chocolate and roasted malts. The taste is roasted malts, big chocolate notes, toasted wood and a hoppy finish. Medium bodied. Jesterdeal (1986) - Marlton, New Jersey, USA - JUL 30, 2012
Aroma of slight floral hop, malty fig and a hint of caramel. Kind of sick looking but a good frothy head on it. Taste is not that good. Notes of dark fruits, oak, and dirt. Not a strong showing by far. DiarmaidBHK (6143) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 1, 2012
Draft at lazy boy saloon. Pours black with a thin khaki head. Not much on the nose. Doesn’t taste like much of anything. Maybe a slight caramel note. If this is oak aged you have to wonder what they used the oak for before they beer barrells. pnesbit (111) - Marietta, South Carolina, USA - APR 22, 2012
Growler pour very dark with a thin tan head the dissipated quickly. Aroma had very little malt and not much of anything else. Taste was of malt with a little chocolate and slight oak taste. No big taste of any one flavor. The beer was pretty smoothed and mellowed by the aging. Medium body, very fizzy with a lingering finish of the malt. hellbilly (3306) - scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA - MAR 4, 2012
