A: The beer pours a mahogany color with a finger of khaki colored head.
S: Definitely has some oak and vanilla notes to it. Light charred oak aromas as well as plenty of roast. There is quite a bit of sweet toffee and some mild fruitiness. A weird ash-like note on the back end.
T: Medium levels of sweetness, mostly in the form of toffee. The oak flavor is quite strong, but there is a bit of acidity to the beer and a weird flavor I cannot quite describe, perhaps spoiled chocolate?
M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation.
O: Not a bad aroma on this, but the flavor was a bit off. Wouldn’t have this one again. Tmoney99 (14854) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - OCT 30, 2011
Draft sample at CBW 2011. Poured a dark reddish brown color with an average frothy light brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted malt, chocolate and wood aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium toasted chocolate and woody flavor with a medium sweet acidic finish of moderate duration. My expectations where not met.

On tap at Kickbacks. Big oak, big lace, the finish is bitter and a tad astringent. Drying. Still a serviceable porter and glad to catch up to it. shrubber85 (11570) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - AUG 8, 2011
Tap. Light smoke, wood and chocolate malt aroma. Dark chestnut color with moderate head. Lightly bitter herbal hops and sweet toffee malt aroma. Okay but nothing great. b3shine (9072) - Indiana, USA - SEP 29, 2012
Draft to taster. Looks solid; pitch black with thin beige lacing. Smells mildly malty. Tastes like it smells with some roastiness; not much oak though. Average on the palate. Underwhelming. JaBier (8156) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - MAY 17, 2011
Sample at the Cleveland International Beer Fest on 5/14/11. Pours a clear darkest brown/black with a thin beige head. Malty nose with hints of chocolate, roast and dark fruit. Malty flavor with just a bit of chocolate and roast, with even less barrel character. Could use a lot more of everything that’s in there to give it some nose and flavor.
