COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The first thing you notice when pouring a glass of this seasonal beer is the color. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest has a rich, deep golden amber hue which itself is reflective of the season. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest is a malt lover’s dream, masterfully blending together four roasts of barley to create a delicious harmony of sweet flavors including caramel and toffee. The beer is kept from being overly sweet by the elegant bitterness imparted by the German Noble hops. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest provides a wonderful transition from the lighter beers of summer to the winter’s heartier brews.

Original Review in 2010- About as good, if not better than I thought. Reminds me of a spiced up brown ale. Light brown, slight red-orange appearance. Malty caramel taste with a clean hoppy finish. I missed out on this during the season and never tried, so bought a single to sample. Will be looking out for it though next fall, as it a fine seasonal brew for the price. UPDATED ON 4/20/18- Has gone downhill over the years. Hit or miss each season.

355 ml bottle bought at Q Club in SoHo, Central.

Clear deep amber colour; One quarter finger head with soapy off-white foam which fades in 20 seconds; Very good sticky lacing with sparse, very slight carbonation; Fragrant aroma of Amber malt, with roasted almonds, honey, fair dark fruits, caramel, toffee, floral, molasses, dry bread and very light grass; Medium sweet taste of malt, with fair Amberness, light caramel, floral, molasses, toasted bread, thin lemon and very light bitter grassy hops; Medium body, Thin but slick palate; Mouth Feel is very good maltyness in a solid background, a bit thin. Very toast bready but short on caramel and everything else - fair floral, moderate sweetness, no spice, no toffee, lightweight Munich amberness - thin lemony hops to round. Underwhelming... Hoppiness is floral and very light grass in nose, same in taste but much lighter; Bitterness is faint for an abrupt, very low astringent Amber malty finish; Quite dry after taste. Very easy to mouth.

Comments: This one has a fairly impressive malty bready aroma with a pretty strong body to back up, but its taste is a whiff, lacking a lot of good Maerzen elements, and ends up like a macro for the style. Easily downable but disappointing.

UPDATED: JAN 21, 2018 pours copper amber with a decent beige head. Light malt aroma. Taste of caramel malts. Faint hop presence. Not as sweet as others I've had in the style. Fairly quick finish with just a touch of sweet linger. Not bad.

Pours light amber golden with a nice white head and an aroma of malt with a hint of caramel. Tastes of slightly sweet malt with a hint of caramel balanced mildly with hops. It’s medium to light bodied with lively carbonation.

A bottle from Jasons, near NCCU. Aroma: a bit malty. Appearance: clear reddish amber, head dissipates to nothing. Palate: Medium-bodied and oily, average carbonation, predominantly bitter at the finish. Taste: medium bitter, some vanilla. Good value for money, markedly more flavoursome than the Boston lager.

One of the best beers I've ever had. I haven't had a lot of Oktoberfest beers but this beer In general is something I believe I could drink daily. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
