COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The first thing you notice when pouring a glass of this seasonal beer is the color. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest has a rich, deep golden amber hue which itself is reflective of the season. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest is a malt lover’s dream, masterfully blending together four roasts of barley to create a delicious harmony of sweet flavors including caramel and toffee. The beer is kept from being overly sweet by the elegant bitterness imparted by the German Noble hops. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest provides a wonderful transition from the lighter beers of summer to the winter’s heartier brews.

Tap. Deep orange-brown color. Decent head, some lacing. Aroma of malt. Taste is slightly nutty. Song subtle hop finish. Middle of the road.

A tasty beer with lots of aftertaste and a full flavor. A little sweet with hints of nutmeg.

UPDATED: NOV 7, 2004 JtotheDizzo was ranting about this beer so much that I finally gave it a try last night. So while my girlfriends were sipping on cheap chard... I was sitting pretty. A good bear.

UPDATED: OCT 1, 2004 This is one heckuva beer. It’s sad that it’s a seasonal brew. Smells wonderful, looks beautiful and tastes superb. It is very complex with a blend of many malty flavors. It has a kick to it, when it comes to the ABV, but not in a bad way. As you get to the lower half of the glass, it begins to taste somewhat metallic and common, but still, this is a great beer.

bottle. pours a reddish brown with a nice fluffy head. malt nose. flavor is a bit sweet with enough bitterness/sourness to push at the sides of my tongue. finish isnt that good, leaves a dry wheaty or grassy taste that i did not expect

This has an impressive, deep copper tone to it, but there’s not much aroma of any kind. Like the head. Not much. Feels nice in the mouth, but I’m searching for some flavor. A bit of malt. A touch of sourness. Nothing interesting. I hope it’s a bad bottle. I have five to go.

Overall outstanding beer. My fav! Look forward to fall just to have the october fest. Taste is great, texture great, aroma outstanding. A distant second would have to be the Sam summer ale.

Bottle. Gold/orange color with a thin head. The first flavors to come out are musty and rich malts. Finish is sweet and malty. This beer can be summed up in one word: malty. Very drinkable.

I think Märzens are just delightful creations. This is a very pleasant, smooth, agreeable Oktoberfest brew with a ’primarily malty’ feel / taste. It’s creamy and though with heft, light enough. It has been compared to an English ale, but I do think there is a considerable difference between English ale and a Märzen and my tendency is to opt for the Märzen. This is a good brew and though it won’t blow you away, it’ll relax ya.

Diacetyl funk goin’ on here. Wassup with that? Was clearly there in both pints I had. Mouthfeel thin but kind of coating. Slight nuttiness, but not enough caramel and what was there got muddled with the butter flavors. Not a terrible beer, but flawed and pretty blah.
