The first thing you notice when pouring a glass of this seasonal beer is the color. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest has a rich, deep golden amber hue which itself is reflective of the season. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest is a malt lover’s dream, masterfully blending together four roasts of barley to create a delicious harmony of sweet flavors including caramel and toffee. The beer is kept from being overly sweet by the elegant bitterness imparted by the German Noble hops. Samuel Adams® Octoberfest provides a wonderful transition from the lighter beers of summer to the winter’s heartier brews.

Pours deep orange/reddish. Good malt flavor, with nice sweetness. Hints of brown sugar, caramel, and cognac. Finishes smooth. I buy a few cases of this every September.

When poured out of the bottle, generated a good amount of foam and a smooth head the disappeared within a couple of minutes. After that there was no lace left on the glass. The smell is faintly grassy and fresh. Color is exceptionally clear reddish amber with almost no carbonation past the initial pour (looks almost exactly like a strong brewed iced tea minus the ice). The taste leaned distinctly towards toasted caramel malt with a light dose ot delicately floral hops. The best quality about this beer has to be its velvety smooth mouthfeel that is enhanced by the thick malty body, that is much more evident here than in other fest beers I've had. It was almost entirely lacking in bitterness and left no aftertaste. A decent beer for the style.

Copper / Amber color with a nice head! This brew is made in tradion with the german holiday octoberfest. Tastes VERY good tastes slightly sweet with a strong tastes of hopes and a very light smell of yeast and hops. Very good for any occation. Only downside is its only made during the fall season. Overall Good beer if youi see it buy it!

UPDATED: SEP 2, 2004 In bottles. Amber rich color with good head. More malt body than the standard Sam, great fall roadtrip beer. Update 9/2/4- just had this on tap and was quite disappointed. Poor head, lack of flavor.

I don't know, this was a pretty old bottle for something that doesn't age well...it was ok, but left my stomach feeling weird. I'm sure it would be perfectly drinkable if I had it in, say, October, but it really wasn't very good in late February. Will re-rate next fall. Medium malt, medium hops, with spices, but I couldn't detect anything specific. A color between pumpkins and rust.

Nice fruity and slightly sweet flavor. No bitterness or alcohol detected until it started to warm up, then the alcohol could be tasted.

Great color, nice auburn/orange... maybe ruby... not much of a head though. Nice scent... don't know how to describe it, but it's nice. Taste is decent, better than a few other OKtoberfests I've had. An above average brew, and so far my favorite from the Sam Adams line (I really haven't been much of a fan of the line so far).

Very malty, carmel, can taste the alcohol in this one. Not very well balanced.

Quite malty and carbonated. Pretty weak and watery. Caramel in finish. A very boring brew. Not interesting.

Dark orange coloured. Caramelly malt aroma. Sweet and slightly malty flavour. One-dimensional. Doesn't taste like a German Oktoberfest.
