COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Spicy and bold, a big Christmas cookie of a beer. Samuel Adams Old Fezziwig Ale is bursting with spices of the season. With a remarkably full body and flavor it helps those long winter nights pass more quickly. The rich taste hits the palate with a depth of malt character ranging from sweet toffee and caramel notes to dark, roasty chocolate notes. Then the spices come in full force. Cinnamon, ginger and orange peel dance on the tongue bringing with them the celebratory spirit of the season.

Bottle (Holiday sampler): Nice dark brown/redish color and a foamy tan head. I just can’t get enough of this aroma - nutmeg, brown sugar, cinnamon, cookies, and toffee. Flavor doesn’t dissapoint with orange rind, toasted malt, cinnamon/chocolate, coffee and nutmeg finish. I wish they would sell this by itself so I wouldn’t have to buy the rest of the holiday pack. One of Sam Adams’ best.

Dark brown to amber in color with a foamy tan head. Malty and caramel aroma. Bitter malt flavor; also, a bit toasty and roasted. Medium body and a bit dry at the end.

I enjoyed the pour, nice dark red/brown. I do detect a bit of spice in the aroma, decent head retention. I didnt find the taste to my liking, malty, not much zing in it. I expected more after the reviews, but overall not bad.

UPDATED: FEB 6, 2005 This with the dopplebock is as good as it gets with Sam Adams. This pours dark and rich. Almost like porter. Toffee and spice at the nose, tasty and nice. Good after flavor. The best in the Holiday sampler pack.

A very unique beer. I've only ever seen this one in the Christmas/Winter selection sampler. Deep brown in color, with odors of strong brown sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Finishes smooth, with chocolate, spicy, nutmeg, and more malt and nutmeg flavors. A nice holiday beer.

Aroma of chocolate, cinnamon, and nuts. Flavor is a mix of bittersweet chocolate, nuts, coffee, and a slight cherry. Palate is a bit thin. I really love this beer.
