COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Spicy and bold, a big Christmas cookie of a beer. Samuel Adams Old Fezziwig Ale is bursting with spices of the season. With a remarkably full body and flavor it helps those long winter nights pass more quickly. The rich taste hits the palate with a depth of malt character ranging from sweet toffee and caramel notes to dark, roasty chocolate notes. Then the spices come in full force. Cinnamon, ginger and orange peel dance on the tongue bringing with them the celebratory spirit of the season.

A: The pour is a clear, dark amber color with a finger’s worth of off-white foam. S: The smell is caramel malt, mild spices such as cinnamon and ginger. T: The flavors are similar to the nose, but amped up a bit. There is a sweet caramel flavor along with a nice cinnamon and ginger spiciness. There is also a bit of fruit, maybe cherry and orange. M: The body is medium and the carbonation is quite light, but works nicely for the beer. D: This is an amazingly drinkable beer. I’ve never had this beer before and was quite pleasantly surprised by it. One of the better beers in the Winter Pack.

Malt, orange, and cinnamon? aroma. Deep reddish amber color with a persistent light tan head. Starts with a burst of cinnamon and perhaps nutmeg, a bit of citrus. Mouthfeel is better than thin. Really quite good, though I’m not sure I detect the ginger mentioned on the label. The chocolate is probably there, but the cinnamon mutates it. I don’t know how to describe the finish. All of the above? There’s a slight bite in the finish, and that could be the ginger. Good stuff.

Bottle poured a clear reddish brown with a small diminishing amber head. Aromas of carmel, toasted malt, cinnamon, orange zest and light toffee. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, toffee, light orange zest and light spice with a smooth lingering malty finish.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a medium light tan head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is dark chocolate and a caramel malt. Decent lacing on the glass. The taste is a light malt with licorice and caramel finish. A very good brew from Samuel Adams.

Brown ale with nice reddish hues, and a thin off-white head. Aroma of caramel, cinnamon, ginger and lemony notes. In mouth, nice sweet caramel malt, coriander and oranges. Like a light bodied belgian brown ale. I tought this was quite good. Bottle is one yr old.

12 ounce bottle courtesy of Alraomon. Thanks! Pours a clear ruby red color with a medium eggshell aroma, moderate retention and nice lacing. Aroma is caramel, citrus and spice. Lots of orange peel and some green apple. Taste is fruity, again with the citrus and green apple, with some subtle bitter notes and caramel malts. Medium bodied.
