Spicy and bold, a big Christmas cookie of a beer. Samuel Adams Old Fezziwig Ale is bursting with spices of the season. With a remarkably full body and flavor it helps those long winter nights pass more quickly. The rich taste hits the palate with a depth of malt character ranging from sweet toffee and caramel notes to dark, roasty chocolate notes. Then the spices come in full force. Cinnamon, ginger and orange peel dance on the tongue bringing with them the celebratory spirit of the season.

I liked this beer. Malty, spicey, fruity and easy to drink. Nice hop finish, but not as hoppy as the regular Sam Adams Boston Lager. This SA beer poured an nice foamy head and like others have said, is nice at Xmas.

Bottle @ Home. Pours brown with a brown head. Aroma of sweet malt, caramel, spices. Taste is sweet with malt, caramel, browncookies, cinnamon and other spices. Sweet, but pretty good. Medium body, soft carbonation. 040210

Very handsome, crystal clear, copper ale. Looks like a shiny, new penny. Creamy, off-white head. Great retention with creamy lacework. Malty and caramely nose with a hint of vanilla. Very rich, malty flavor. I know it's spiced, but I don't taste it. The malt must override the spice. Decently balanced. This chunk of buttery caramel should be wrapped in wax paper and handed out to children on Halloween, not poured into a glass. Medium-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and lively carbonation. The finish is very dry and astringent. An inexpensive fix for we maltheads! Trick or Treat?

"you can really taste the malt sweetness and great blend of spices in this beer. its like drinking a Christmas cookie! always a yearly seasonal brew, i wish theys let me get a sixer of this, so i could avoid the (old) cranberry lambic in the holiday pack."

Bottle @ home. Dark red/brown appearance with a big tan/brown head. Spicy nose including orange peel, cinnamon, and possibly ginger with a brown malty body behind the spices. Pretty spicy brown malted body but the spices are well-done and not overdone. Ginger comes out pretty well in the finish. After taste is a spicy brown malty taste. Good job not overdoing the spices.

Its a beautiful, clear, red-brown beer with a creamy head. The aroma is slightly spicy with notes of cinnamon, caramel and fruit. The flavour has a light sweetness and a cinnamon/citrus-like dryness. It has notes of cinnamon, caramel, syrup, a peppery ginger bite and light fruit. The finish is dry and peppery. Compared with many other beers with added spices, this one is pleasant because of the subdued spices.

A very unique beer. I've only ever seen this one in the Christmas/Winter selection sampler. Deep brown in color, with odors of strong brown sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Finishes smooth, with chocolate, spicy, nutmeg, and more malt and nutmeg flavors. A nice holiday beer.

Bottle. Pours a clear copper with a short-lived tan head. Aromas of cinnamon, ginger, and copper. Taste is biscuity and metallic with some subtle spice and ginger kick. Overall too sweet and too acidic on the finish. Meh. Its Sam Adams so dont expect too much.
