3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: AUG 30, 2011 Bottle. The pour was a nice coppery medium brown in color with a large (3-4 finger) rocky head that had great retention lasting almost throughout and produced some really excellent lacing.
The aroma was very pronounced with a strong roasted bread malt, a mild pine hop and a sweet yeast with notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, coffee and some dark fruit.
At first the taste was slightly bitter with a dominant malty-coffee flavor that had a hint of brown sugar, then progressed into a moderately sweet hoppy finish with the end having just a hint of spice and I am thinking cranberry. The flavor was left to linger on the palate for a nice long while allowing the flavors to really come together.
Mouthfeel was a light to medium in body and had an oily yet rather creamy texture with a somewhat prickly carbonation.
Overall it is a very satisfying seasonal Ale that had all of its flavors melding very well thus producing a very tasty brew...

Always buy the winter mix 12 just for this beer. Pours a clear amber brown with a soapy tan head. Nose is caramel spice. Palate is caramel, clove, nutmeg. Not as thick or syrupy as I expect. Finish is slightly sweet and fast. Happy holidays.

Pours a deep caramel brown with a foamy light tan head. Light carbonation with some lacing. Crisp aroma of fall spices and dark fruits. Malty taste with some bold spice flavors of cinnamon and ginger. Bold but not harsh or bitter. Smooth finish and a lingering pleasant aftertaste. Enjoyable. Not as varied in flavors as the description on the label, it seemed not much different from most holiday red ales. Not bad though.
