Samuel Adams is currently in the process of brewing up a German style called “radler.” The name radler translates to “cyclist,” A 50/50 (ish) blend of beer and lemonade. (Like a shandy). Perfect for any summer day, Samuel Adams® Porch Rocker was inspired by traditional Bavarian Radlers that mix beer with German-style lemonade. For our bright and citrusy Radler, we blended a Helles beer with lemon for a fresh-squeezed lemon taste, effervescent sweetness, and slightly tart, refreshing finish. A light malt character and hint of hops balance out this summer brew.

(Rating #5887)

Bright amber. Minimal head. Fresh lemon scent. Refreshing beery beveridge. Lemony. I guess it depends on your fruit likes. More beer and less silly than Beerita.

"This is the kind of beer that maybe I enjoyed a little more than the score would indicate, but I can’t see giving any aspect an 8. Liked the lemony fresh aroma, light fizzy feel, and fruity slightly tart flavor. This is simple and light, but refreshing and exactly what Id want when watching a summer baseball game. 2nd time not a charm. Medicinal lemon."

Bottled. Clean clear amber with little head. This is bright and citrus with almost a Shandy style.

Best beer I have ever had. Only bad thing is its only brewed in summer months, citrus smooth.

Alcoholic carbonated lemonade. Real lemon flavor and somewhat refreshing, but beer it ain’t. Homemade lemonade is better.

This Porch Rocker . . . is really good!! It had a great look when I poured it into a pint glass. the aroma was inviting but not overwhelming. the big hook was the taste. This beer was truly meant for summer. it was an excellent pour that was matched by its flavor. it had a great fruity zip that was a perfect match for summer. the color was a perfect golden yellow. this is now on my list for summer enjoyment.

Pretty good shandy flavor, if a tad weak. Of course aroma and taste consist of lemonade and light beer. Decent, and refreshing, but far surpassed by Boulevard’s radler.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a pint glass. The color is a clear yellowish gold with less then a finger of foamy head and no lacing on the glass. The smell is pretty muted with some hints at straw and wheat in the nose but is not giving much more. The taste has a fruit flavor that is hard to place. There is a sweet strawberry flavor that seems to come out in just a fraction before dumping a big sugary smack toward the end. There some touches a bready flavor at the front before the flavor bomb hits the tongue and covers up any other flavor that’s there. The feel if the beer pretty light and goes down easy. It’s low ABV makes for a good session beer if you enjoy the almost candy-like flavor that is the driving flavor of this beer.

Perfect for the summer. It tastes like drinking lemonade with a little bit of a beer taste.
