Samuel Adams is currently in the process of brewing up a German style called radler. The name radler translates to cyclist, A 50/50 (ish) blend of beer and lemonade. (Like a shandy). Perfect for any summer day, Samuel Adams Porch Rocker was inspired by traditional Bavarian Radlers that mix beer with German-style lemonade. For our bright and citrusy Radler, we blended a Helles beer with lemon for a fresh-squeezed lemon taste, effervescent sweetness, and slightly tart, refreshing finish. A light malt character and hint of hops balance out this summer brew.

Transparent light golden color with thin foam. Smells string of lemons and cleaner. Taste is an overpowering sweet lemon flavor. Almost like pine sol. Harshness lingers a bit on the palate. Not as refreshing as expected higher alcohol content might be appropriate to complement the intense flavors.

Aroma is lemon. Taste is a carbonated lemonade, but not too overpowering. Overall surprisingly OK.

Pours clear, bubbly straw yellow with a thick and frothy, though not long-lasting, snow-white head. Aroma delivers a strong lemonade tone with a malty underpinning. This says "Summer" out loud. Tart flavor offers lemonade and malty notes, pleasing and refreshing. Mouthfeel features wan body and fizz, more lemonade than beer, but still this will either take the edge off a broiling day or bring a little summer into a chilly one.

12 oz. bottle. Best before NOV ticked on the side of label. Slightly hazy golden color. Aroma is artificial lemonade. Even for a radler, this is not easy to drink. Heavy on the lemonade and reminds me of a Country Time lemonade powder mix with a shot of a bad blonde ale. Pretty gross overall. To be fair, I hate radlers to begin with and this doesnt help my opinion of them.

Imagine what a port-a-potty urinal scent cake would taste like.... Get that in your head and then try this beer. You wont make it past the first sip.

This is terrible. Im not even opposed to the style, this is just badly done. Smells and tastes like lemon scented cleaner.

I had it from the bottle. The aroma is lemonade. The taste is lemon and ginger. When cold, it was refreshing and crisp enough. Their summer beers always seem to have a heaviness to them. It was decent though.

12 oz bottle from Jungle Jims from notes. Pours a clear golden color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sugary sweetness, lemonade, pale malts, not much else, I dont like these to begin with and this wasnt good.

12 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, best before 12/2015. Pours crystal clear golden straw color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of lightly tart lemonade, lemon peel, wheat, cracker, biscuit, light pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance of lemonade, pale malt, and light earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of lightly tart lemonade, lemon peel, wheat, cracker, biscuit, light pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Light herbal bitterness and fruit tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemonade, lemon peel, wheat, cracker, biscuit, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Very nice robustness and balance of lemonade, pale malt, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitter/tartness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness. Medium-high carbonation and light body; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly creamy/grainy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Very clean on lager flavors with zero yeast ester notes present. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.5%. Overall this is a very nice Radler style! All around nice robustness and balance of lemonade, pale malt, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink. This had a really nice presence of the Helles beer, vs other Radlers Ive had in the past. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle, best before November 2016, drunk 7/23/16, compliments of TJ.
Thin, white head quickly recedes to a ring atop a clear, light golden-hay colored body.
Lemonade and light grain with some pepper and floral notes dont smell particularly off-putting or fake, those theres a touch of raw sugar, which I guess is the lemonade. But its not soapy or anything like that.
In the mouth, its sweeter than it should be, with raw sugar and honey-like maltiness, light floral and spice notes and a lot of lemonade. The lemonade tastes like lemonade, at least, not soap and corn syrup and artificial notes. Fizzy carbonation, watery (as it should be) but just way too sweet. Clean, for the most part, with no alcohol.

Can. Pours mostly clear yellow gold with no head. Nose and taste is mostly lemonade and maybe a little ginger. Okay.
