Bottle at LIC Craft Beer Festival. Ruby red pour. Weird aroma of toast and black pepper. Tastes like malted bread. Some bitterness and burning. I voted for the other beer. keepersj12 (3136) - Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA - SEP 26, 2010
A nice beer but where is the rye? I didn’t notice any in the aroma or taste. It has a very nice malty sweetness but again, where is the rye. I gave the nod to the Belgian IPA. JK (6249) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - SEP 26, 2010
Brown color. A slight sourness from the rye. Bitter with grain. Dry finish. Very light hop presence. I am surprised this was a choice for a beer they would make. MaltDawg (1344) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - SEP 18, 2010
(Sample Date: 8/18/2010 Source:Other) Special tasting at Wine and Beer Westpark, Richmond. Moderate maltiness with some rye spiciness evident. Vanilla notes in the flavor with a touch of yeasty phenolics in the finish. maniac (3800) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - SEP 17, 2010

Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Solid soft drinkable brew.

Sample at the Sam Adams tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 9/9/10. Hazy brown pour with a medium beige head. Aroma of caramel and dark malts, bread and earthy hops. Grainy malt flavor with rye and a grassy hop finish. MadIndian (2743) - Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 9, 2010
Last of the back log. Sampled at brewery on weekend trip. Brown pour
with reddish hue. Aromas of rye, yeast and mild hop. Taste is similar but with a mild spice bite. It was good. vyvvy (6638) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - SEP 2, 2010
Pours tawny amber with an off-white head. The aroma has light spiciness, toasty malt, apples, pears, hazelnuts and an overall mushiness. Medium crisp body with sharp carbonation and a wateriness to the finish. The flavor starts with toasty musty malt and lots of rye spiciness. The finish has mostly spice. It an okay beer.
