I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying a few well made single hop pale ale’s from a local brewery, that have used the Topaz and Galaxy hop before, so I’m semi-familiar with it and it reminds me in many ways of a Cascade hop (which isn’t a bad thing).
Aroma seemed bursting with hop elements like citrus and pine, but I found some subtle notes of wood and tropical fruits around mid-glass, which I don’t find in Cascade. The malts find a surprisingly loud voice in this beer with lots of sweet bread and caramel with a nice balancing touch with a spicy/citrusy hop punch. If they started making this available in 6 packs, I’d be a happy camper. George999 (464) - Colorado, USA - OCT 23, 2014
Lightly hoped, dark auburn color, aromas have hints of milk chocolate, taste is toffee mild and roasted GenDV138 (7697) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - OCT 20, 2014

Pours a clear, brownish red, with a light tan head. Aroma is of toffee and malt. Taste is complex; a little sweet and malty, notes of hops and dark fruit, a little hoppy at the finish. A very nice beer, that really doesn’t seem much like an IPA to me, since the hops are so subtle. Thumbs up. ZacM612 (799) - San Antonio, Texas, USA - JUL 23, 2014
Reddish brown with thin beige head. Sweet aroma, not distinctly grapefruit. Grapefruit is apparent in the flavor, along with a good IPA base. Pretty good. ineedbeer (2255) - Oakland, California, USA - JUL 15, 2014
12 oz bottle with a July, 2014 best by date. Aroma is spicy with with a moderate toasted bread character and some caramel and nuts. Medium light herbal and floral hop notes with some pine resin and a hint of citrus. Faint alcohol spice. Pours a cloudy, dark red, almost burnt amber with a moderately sized, medium thick tan head that shows average retention. Moderate lacing and small legs. Flavor has a light sweetness with moderate toasted bread and some caramel notes as well as some toffee. Moderate bitterness with medium light hop character. Hop flavors are a blend of citrus and tropical fruit with a bit of pine resin and dank earthy notes. Light alcohol spice. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright beer with a nice malt character upfront but the finish isn?t as nice. Hop character isn?t as impressive as it could be but it works alright with malt notes. CpyNPrnT (640) - Indiana, USA - JUL 8, 2014
tasting-toffee, malty, nice bitterness, grapefruit, and piney, decent, perhaps worth a try. Linnet (1905) - Karlstad, SWEDEN - JUL 3, 2014
This is not at all what I expected, expecting a grapefruity resinous explosion of tropical fruits, instead it’s herbal, spicy and earthy, maltiness is pronounced. Maybe this was old?
