Dark brown with a thick tan head. Aroma is chocolate with notes of spice. Flavor is rich, bitter chocolate with notes of spice. Some earthiness and some strong malt present. Finishes just a touch vegetal.

Oily black, dark taupe, stiff head. Lightly sweet, vanilla and light spice aroma. Tangy, bittersweet chocolate, light spicy notes. Mouthy but not viscous... oddly Styrofoam feeling...Lots of bulk but not weighty. Very slow burn. On tap, Brass Tap, Tallahassee Midtown. chinchill (5073) - South Carolina, USA - OCT 23, 2014
UPDATED: DEC 31, 2014 12 oz bottle served in a snifter. Date notched BB Feb. 2015 (?; no year indicated).
Pours clear dark mahogany with a fine looking, creamy tan head that recedes too quickly.
Aroma: sweet and a bit boozy, with hints of raisins, dates, cocoa, pancakes, burnt sugar and toffee.
Flavor: Moderately complex with all of the ingrediants readily detectable. Mild but obvious chili presence. Sweet overall, and a bit too sweet up front, but it eventually works out to an acceptable bitter/sweet balance given the chili, chocolate and other flavors.
Feel: smooth mouth feel; very good carbonation; full body with mild chili heat.
O: a sweet but intriguing brew that’s certainly worth trying. Did not mix too well with the end of my dinner but worked great as an after meal sipper. Westmeister (2129) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - OCT 9, 2014
Bought in the mega 24 pack for 25 bucks. Dark pour with mocha head. Smell is roast, cocoa and sweet cinnamon sugar. Taste is similar but shows the mild pepper comes thru with a bigger cinnamon component. Quite nice and one of the better SA brews I’ve had in a while. slowrunner77 (12159) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 27, 2014
"coming in 2.6% stronger than one of my favorite beers, Chocolate Bock, and it’s a bit different on several levels, though there are simlarities in the chocolate flavor especially. aroma similar to the flavor but too subdued, hence the lower mark. the chili only makes an appearance (and even then it’s subtle) in the finish, which is the only disappointing element of this beer. it was thicker in body, but not necessarily richer. abv not very evident, smooth body. interesting mix of chocolate, hops, cinnamon, and the kinda-there chili. i could see how it may be seen as muddled, but i dug it as a change of pace. for the price, i’d get it once or twice a year...but it poses no threat to the choc bock."

Pours a deep dark brown with a fingers width tan head. Aroma is of chocolate and malt. Flavor starts sweet with an excellent spicy finish. Not like anything that I have ever tried, but a great beer nonetheless. Part of Samual Adams Adventures Lager pack. trujahwarrior (510) - Monroe, Washington, USA - MAR 4, 2014
Batch 1 2011 aged. Pours a hazy dark brown color with a medium tan head that leaves light lacing. Smells of chocolate, caramel, peppers and cinnamon. Tastes of the same things in the smell but the peppers aren’t very noticeable. Mouuthfeel is thin and creamy with decent carbonation. Pretty solid beer for the most part. I think if I drank it fresher the spice pepper flavor would have came through more. Still got a light veggie flavor. I liked the mix of the cinnamon and chocolate. Bomber. Dark caramel color with a tan head. Smells like caramel, meat, and green pepper. Taste was very BBQ like and almost salty for me. Was not crazy about this one.Mittenator (1612) - Michigan, USA - FEB 15, 2014

Bomber. Dark caramel color with a tan head. Smells like caramel and green pepper. Sweet, old flavor with a little pepper and maybe slight tootsie roll at the end. superspak (5690) - Michigan, USA - JAN 31, 2014
22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 10/17/2011. Pours nearly pitch black color with a 2 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of raisin, prune, plum, chocolate, cocoa, molasses, roasted malt, toast, dark bread, biscuit, light coffee, cinnamon, herbal, light chile, clove, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt, yeast ester, and spice notes; with solid strength. Taste of raisin, plum, prune, chocolate, cocoa, toast, molasses, biscuit, dark bread, light coffee, cinnamon, clove, light chile, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Light cinnamon/chile spice with slight heat on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, prune, plum, chocolate, cocoa, toast, dark bread, light coffee, cinnamon, clove, light chile, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt, spice, and fruity yeast ester flavors; with a nice malt/spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very creamy, slick, and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good spiced bock style. Good balance, robustness, and complexity of malt, spice, and fruity yeast ester flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A nicely enjoyable offering.
