Well. The infamous triple bock. í97 vintage.
Aroma of woody bourbon-sherry. Chocolate.
Pitch black to ruby around the edges.
Taste. Soy sauce, plums and raisins. Not much burn given how much alcohol there is in it. I canít say I hate it. Would I buy it again? No. Am I glad I tried it. Kinda, yeah.
Edit-I think I got a really well-kept bottle. No chucks, etc..
Small blue bottle, poured, and filtered to remove the cork. Vintage 1995, courtesy of Scrizzz. Damn! Thanks Clint! Thick pour. Sauce thick. Jet black. Huge, intense sweet raisin aroma, and booze, noticed from halfway across the table. Raisin theme continues in the flavor, with an intense licorice and bran rounds up to the boozy finish. Huge beer here. First experience with this beer, so I have no comparison notes. What an experience this one was. Fun for sure, but about a 3 oz sample was more than enough. Thank you Mathieu87 & PriorL! 250 ml. bottle sampled @ ďEpic beer Tasting 2016Ē. 1997 Vintage. Pours black with zero head. Nose is very thick soy sauce, Teriyaki sauce & even more sauce, alcoholic going to varnish & model glue,Ö Crazily heavy on the soy sauce. Taste is very heavy soy sauce leading into really extreme sweetness, similar to Sirop de LiŤge but even sweeter, sweetness on this is beyond all bounds, I didnít realize that anything can even be this sweet, cloying beyond all possibilities, dark prune syrup, alcohol is largely obscured. Taste is not necessary bad but it is cloying to the point of being completely & utterly undrinkable for me. Low umami notes, insanely thick syrup. I cannot stomach this. It exceeds all known sweetness for me & goes even futher. oldrtybastrd (5002) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - APR 25, 2016
Pours a deep dark brown color. Aroma smells like I opened an old steamer trunk, yeasty, musty, moldy. Flavors of soy sauce, yeast, peppery spice, and alcohol. Didnít like this one at all. shigadeyo (3729) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 2, 2016
1997 Vintage... Aroma is super concentrated maltiness, honey, soy/fish/oyster sauce; pours like soy sauce, opaque, glassy, no carbonation, no head; super, super, super sweet (sweeter than sack mead and definitely the sweetest beer Iíve ever had), lots of rich complex flavors, umami, really intense black licorice, prune, raisin, tobacco juice, concentrated semi-sweet chocolate, warming but alcohol isnít overly obvious; medium, really syrupy body (coats the glass), sticky; really interesting beer and unlike anything Iíve ever had and I like it... Itís really more like beer concentrate!

í97(?) drinken in 2016 APPEARANCE- pure black, no carbonation apparent, no head (see prior phrase), and has a tremendous
NOSE- black licorice and balance of sweetness. alcohol is pungent.
FLAVOR- black licorice x 10^3. I cannot deny the rumors of soy.
NOTES- this may be the first beer Iíve drinken that has noticeable legs. GenDV138 (7200) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - MAR 6, 2016
1995 bottle at the DC March Tasting, thanks radagast83! Dark brownish, no head. Aromas of caramel, soy sauce, toffee, roast, tobbaco. Tastes of dark fruit, smoke, oak, tobacco, soy sauce. Medium-light body with a dry finish. solidfunk (8838) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - MAR 5, 2016
Actually not that bad after 20 years. Like a chocolately barley wine. Thick and oily consistency. Sweet and remarkably free of booze. Light soy. Bottle, big thanks to Travlr. Travlr (24259) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - MAR 5, 2016
1995 bottle, filtered to exclude the cork. Dark clear ruby brown color, flat. Aroma of overbaked chocolate brownies. Taste has port wine, tannins. Interesting. jb (3211) - Rochester, New York, USA - FEB 13, 2016
Iíve always wanted to try this. A friend still has a few bottles, 1995 vintage, he says the taste has changed very little over the years. Fast forward to now. Wow a malt and booze bomb. Smooth, with burn at the end. Way too sweet though with no balancing issue but for the booze. Very dark and flat, intriguing looking. Nose is decent and interesting. Brandy, plums, booze, tea. Actually, this was a bit better than I thought it would be.
