Not a bad beer, I just can’t get very excited about it.
As it seems wih most of Sam Adams brews, this is an
attempt at a craft brew, but it falls short. There are
elements of the Vienna style, just not enough and not strongly
enough. I would much rather consume any of the good Oktoberfest
beers from Germany, especially Hacker-P. npdempse (934) - St. Petersburg, Florida, USA - DEC 4, 2002
Surprisingly good beer from Koch the BBC boys. A sweet, bready malt nose with a dose of flowery hops. The flavor is mildly sweet and somewhat nutty, with a moderate bitterness yielding a pleasant, dry finish that leaves you wanting another. RaginCajun (320) - Houston, Texas, USA - DEC 3, 2002
Nice amber color with a diminishing head. Well pronounce, inviting aroma. Medium body...I’m impressed. Time to drink the rest of this sampler pack... JPDIPSO (6223) - Wauwatosa, USA - DEC 2, 2002
Orange/amber color with a nice full light tan head. toasty malt aroma with just a hint of light fruit. Flavors of light all-grain toast. Just a touch of sweetness in the finish with a a bit of acidity to wash it away. Holdwine (1228) - Beertimore, Maryland, USA - DEC 1, 2002
Nice surprise. Pours well, leaving a big frothy head. Good malt flavor, hops are lacking at best. Golden brown color.

Great crisp flavor, but needs a little bit more palate. Another good one in the holiday sampler. igneous1 (1535) - Davenport, Iowa, USA - NOV 29, 2002
amber color with a foamy light beige head. aroma is pretty malty, but cant detect much in the way of hops. pleasantly surprised. Slick (1969) - Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA - NOV 28, 2002
Another fine beer out of the pack.Nice aroma ,with a clear dep red color nicely balanced with a clean finish.to bad its seems that it doesn’t come in a solo pack on it’s own Vac (2445) - San Diego, California, USA - NOV 28, 2002
Bright amber body topped with a thick creamy head leaving plenty of lace. Sweet amlty aroma with slight fruity notes and a touch of sourness. Sweet malt flavor well balanced with hoppiness and a touch of sourness in the finish. Smooth and refreshing, slightly oily. jedimasternick (96) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - NOV 25, 2002
One of the better Sam beers with a slight spicyness that is not overdone as with their winter brew.
