Overall a good easy drinking beer. Bright red/amber color with a medium head that lasts the entire time. Aroma is sweet and malty. Taste is predictably malty from start to finish with no suprises. Seems to be missing something that I cannot put a finger on. But a good beer none the less. PhillyBeer2112 (2903) - Oviedo, Florida, USA - NOV 12, 2002
Blood red & amber colored, with a large foamy off-white head. Light caramel aroma. Clean caramel flavor, generally light malt profile. Smooth and drinkable at best, underdone at worst. HighGravity (926) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - NOV 8, 2002
(Best by 3/03) This is a very attractive glass of beer, reddish hue with a big thick lasting head. There is not much of a nose on this beer, perhaps a little spicy hops. The palate is relatively sweet with the classic Sam Adams pasteurization flavors that are a detractor. The finish is quick and malty. proc (342) - Dearborn, Michigan, USA - NOV 7, 2002
Sammy better put this one in the stable permanantly. An excellent drinking beer. Pours out to a bright amber in the glass with a fruit-like aroma. Taste is predominantly that of malt, but in a very good way. Rich and flavorful, with a finish that really brings out the malt. A very, very good beer. Not bad. a slightly smoky, malty, sweetness and fairly full bodied. I think this only available in the winter pack.

Pours ruby amber with a small beige head. Malt aroma, hints of herbal hops. Rich and creamy, hints of caramel and toffee. Very malty, kinda thin in the body, but a decent vienna I spose. Light to medium bodied, finishes clean with just a hint of crisp hops. Kaya161 (1142) - San Diego, California, USA - OCT 10, 2002
GABF 2002: True to style, I guess. ........................................
