A very average, yet very tasty beer from Sam Adams. Pours a deep amber almost garnet color. Little puffy cloud head, which dissipates quickly. Almost has an earth quality, some oak, toasted smoke flavors. Very good malt character. Finish is slightly watery.

Nice amber color with smallish tan head. Nice raosted malt aroma. Medium bodied with a lively carbonation, which is surprising considering there wasn’t much head. Finish is slightly bitter but I like it. Nicely done.

Bottled. Poured a deep copper color with a lasting off-white head. A very malty aroma and flavor, reminiscent of wine and some woody-like hints. Not a bad offering.

Color is deep amber. First sip is very malty, smooth, and has hints of brown sugar and hops. Finishes smooth, crisp, and clean. Very nice.

This beer was a pleasant surprise. Nice hoppy flavor with enough balancing full body malt flavor. Copper colored with a low carbonation. Low in bitterness.

VERY Good brew! Tastes like winter lager only without the extreme bitterness. Has a mild copper color as do almost all of sam adams beers. Medium Head which dies after about 3 minuites. Very sweetly flavored malts and yeast is also able to be tasted. Goes down good with seafood! If you see it buy it!

I can't tell the difference between this and the winter lager. Very full bodied. Tastes kind of nutty.

Medium sized tan head, good retention and lace. Clear amber color. Malty, grainy nose with hints of berries. Medium body. Medium sweet malt flavors, grainyness. Finish is medium sweet. A mediocre beer.

UPDATED: DEC 12, 2008 [bottle] Pours a rich red color with a nice thick head and light carbonation. Very faint malty aroma. Nice malt flavor with a smooth and bitterless finish to it. A bit watery body however.

This is a tasty brew for one or two at most. It seems to have a smokiness that I wasn't expecting. Very nice appearance in the glass.
