Medium amber/orange color with thin off-white foam. Aroma was mild, but mostly malts. In fact, there's too much malt flavor in this beer for my liking. Medium bitterness is unbalanced. Actually finished better than it started. And I'm glad it's finished. dirtymike (2016) - Manchester, New Hampshire, USA - JAN 10, 2004
Deep amber in color with a small white head.Huge malty aroma with a slight touch of toasted malt.Caramel sweet flavor with a huge bready malty character. This is more true to a Vienna style than their first" Vienna" style the Boston Lager. I prefer this one, case closed. ElGaucho (2401) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - JAN 1, 2004
Malty aroma with a hint of hops. Brownish orange in color and no lace. One of the better Viennas I've had. Is not overly malt dominated like some in the category. Molasses notes. Good. Drew (2470) - Kent, Ohio, USA - DEC 16, 2003
Sweet malty aroma from a slightly cloudy amber brown body. Palate was just o.k. - could've been thicker and maltier. Taste was mostly sweet caramels and slight hop at the end. Just o.k. DrBeer (862) - Solna Stockholm, SWEDEN - NOV 19, 2003
Pale amber colour.
Roasted malty aroma with fruity tones.
Fruity and spicy flavor. Dry.

Copper hue with a good frothy off-white head that did die too quicky and produced only fair lace. Malty aroma of biscuit and rye bread, nutty and touch of caramel, floral hops, spices and somewhat vinous with a additional nose of maple sugar and smoky wood. The taste is muted which is disappointing after the nice aroma. Some bitterness and citric nature under the malt, but it never really shines. Potential is there, but lack the conviction to carry through. Average. beermatrix (1497) - Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA - NOV 10, 2003
Color is a nice amber brown, slightly hazy with a small dark ivory head, sticks around awhile, lace sticks in sheets then fades into strings and spots. Smell is mostly malts, good caramel, fresh, sweet and a bit toasted, a pretty decent vienna nose. Taste is more of the same with a nice caramel tone overall with some hints of toastyness, but mostly sweetly rendered. Some citrusy notes that are dulled with a light hop mix. Somewhat crisp finish with some lingering chewyness. Feel is close to medium bodied with a pretty smooth and lightly creamy aspect, a bit thin in a few places. Not a bad drinker for a Vienna. A bit more of a tangy, doughy, bready tone in the sweetness and it would be a keeper for sure. Still, not a bad beer though. Wiseblood (700) - Clarksville, Tennessee, USA - OCT 30, 2003
Copper color with a malty spicy aroma. Initial taste is sweet malt, some hops and a smoky, caramel flavor. Subtle and easy drinking. Not as full bodied as other Viennas, but still worth a try. Cam501 (58) - Asheville, North Carolina, USA - OCT 15, 2003
Aroma is slightly sweet. Maltiness is stronger dominates over the faint bit of hoppiness. Nothing spectacular but a pretty good offfering that i feel is better than the boston lager. beastdog75 (364) - Brick, New Jersey, USA - OCT 12, 2003
This seems like a happy medium between the Boston Lager and the Octoberfest. Not as hoppy and the Lager and not as malty as the O-Fest. Decent all around beer, but I was expecting a little bit more from this one.
